Sftp Exit Status 127
a minute: Sign up SFTP giving error 127 up vote 0 down vote favorite I'm trying to transfer files using SFTP in batchfile mode. sftp -b /user/home/ftp-commands user@hostname I'm getting exit code as 127 with error message as not found [No such file or directory]. i have checked that /user/home/ftp-commands exists and has all required permissions and also the files I'm trying sftp initialization failed the sftp server finished unexpectedly with exit code 127 to transfer exists with read permissions. sftp share|improve this question asked Nov 25 '15 at 2:32 user1504970 134 The -b file switch in sftp is meant for reading the sftp commands inside the local file. Make sure /user/home/ftp-commands is in your local host. –alvits Nov 25 '15 at 2:45 yes, /user/home/ftp-commands is in the local host. –user1504970 Nov 25 '15 at 2:52 It only makes sense to post the contents of /user/home/ftp-commands and see maybe there are typo errors in the file that you can hardly see because you are too familiar with your system. Is this file in unix or dos format? You should make sure it is in unix format if you are running in *nix environment. –alvits Nov 25 '15 at 2:54 Please move your question to Super User. It's off-topic here. –Martin Prikryl Nov 25 '15 at 7:52 add a comment| active oldest votes Know someone who can answer? Share a link to this question via email, Google+, Twitter, or Facebook. Advertisements: If you are not an experienced Unix user, you should first try using SFTP protocol instead. If you are sure that the command exists on the remote server, make sure that WinSCP (or rather the shell) can find it. You may need to add path to the command https://winscp.net/eng/docs/message_return_code_127 to PATH environment variable. Also make sure that the startup script that sets PATH is actually executed for non-interactive sessions. You can also try to run the respective command from terminal (with the same account that you use with WinSCP), to verify that you can execute it. You may not have sufficient permissions, or the command dependencies may not be installed. Common situations, in which you may get the error: Transferring files fails, because path to scp command is not in PATH; Error appears while logging in, because your *nix distribution lacks groups command. You can instruct WinSCP not to use the command in site settings. messages.txt · Last modified: 2013-06-01 by martin Search Documentation This page Donate $9 $19 $49 $99 About donations Recommend Tweet Associations Hosted by SourceForge Webhosting RSS Feed with Project News Driven by DokuWiki phpBB Bookmark Manager Site design by Black Gate WinSCP Privacy Policy WinSCP License
