I get a "[BibTeX] finished with exit code 2" message when I compile in Kile. Yet, all seems to be ok in my bibliography. Here is what I'm doing in my document: \documentclass[12pt,oneside]{article} \pagestyle{plain} \usepackage[sort,round]{natbib} %package for bibliography \bibliographystyle{authordate1}%unsrtnat sets as sorted by order of appearance \begin{document} \section{This is a section} Citation: \nocite{*} Citation with something: \citep{CHANCE1952} \section{Bibliography} \bibliography{/home/my/path/to/library/test} \end{document} Which outputs Here is what my library has (yes, only one reference for testing purposes) @article{CHANCE1952, author = {Chance, B. and Greenstein, D. I'm using Mageia OS with a KDE desktop environment. This is the error I get when I try to compile the main.tex with bibtex: [BibTeX]main.aux => main.bbl (bibtex) [BibTeX]finished with exit code 2 I pressed the bibtex button on mybibliography.bib: that didn't work. Next, I compiled (I tried) main.tex with pdfLaTeX and got 0 errors, and a number of warnings: LaTeX Warning: Citation 'sharbati:2009' on page 3 undefined on input line 2. LaTeX Warning: Empty bibliography on input line 51. LaTeX Warning: There were undefined references. Package biblatex Warning: Please (re)run Biber on the file:(biblatex)main(biblatex)and rerun LaTeX afterwards. biblatex bibtex kile share|improve this question asked Aug 7 '13 at 21:27 WobblyWindows 6941520 2 BibTeX is used on the .aux file: either bibtex main or bibtex main.aux. Summary Kile does not remember BibTeX/BibLaTeX setting Status CONFIRMED Product: kile Classification: Unclassified Component: user interface Version: trunk-kde4 Platform: unspecified Linux Importance: NOR minor with https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=307437 20 votes (vote) TargetMilestone: --- Assigned To: Michel Ludwig URL: Keywords: Depends on: Blocks: Show dependency tree /graph Reported: 2012-09-26 14:17 UTC by Martin Modified: 2015-05-18 12:05 UTC (History) CC List: 2 users (show) flyos reescf See Also: Latest Commit: Version Fixed In: Description Martin 2012-09-26 14:17:54 UTC If you go to LaTeX menu -> Bibliography -> Settings you can specify whether exit code you want to use BibTeX or BibLaTeX. But KiLe simply resets the setting and starts everytime with BibTeX settings. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Set the Bibliography settings to BibLaTeX 2. Run a project which uses BibLaTeX 3. Close and restart Kile Actual Results: I get the error '[BibTeX] finished with exit code 2' Also, after restarting the program Kile has resetted finished with exit the bibliography setting to BibTeX Expected Results: Kile should remember the bibliography setting. I don't know if Biber (in my case) is supposed to run automatically but at least I would expect the error '[BibLaTeX] finished with exit code 2' This is only a minor inconvenience since I can run biber manually. kile --version: Qt: 4.8.2 KDE Development Platform: 4.9.1 Kile: 2.9.60 Maybe you could implement a general bib backend setting and/or let the user configure it for each project. Comment 1 reescf 2013-08-24 00:44:03 UTC Support for BibLaTeX is generally not that good. The syntax highlighting for .bib files doesn't take account of biblatex even when the setting is corrected. I'm wondering if a more general solution would be for kile to read the % string lines at the top of files in the way that other tex editors do. These can be used to set encoding, programme (pdflatex, luatex, xelatex etc.) on a file-by-file basis in a way which is recognised by all editors which recognise the standard. Since people often work on different platforms and in different editors and/or collaborate with people using
