First, make sure you install the Windows SDK which consists of the mt.exe toolTwo solutions,1. Try to use the whole path of the mt.exe "C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v6.1\Bin\mt.exe -manifest" "$(ProjectDir)$(TargetName).exe.manifest" -updateresource:"$(TargetDir)$(TargetName).exe;#1" 2.Alternatively, you can add the mt.exe path to System environment and restart Visual Studio so that VS can find the mt.exeSee some similar problems here,http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/windowsgeneraldevelopmentissues/thread/42f3fa84-87a6-4eed-aeb9-143316af2013/http://www.dotnetmonster.com/Uwe/Forum.aspx/vs/5901/MT-EXE-and-Error-9009Let us know if this resolves the issue for you!Ji Zhou MSDN Subscriber Support in Forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact msdnmg@microsoft.comPlease remember to mark the replies as answers if they help and unmark them if they provide no help. or the help info. Seen other people have had this but no solutions. My original http://www.yqcomputer.com/974_2267_1.htm step, which I got off CodeProject site was: $(DevEnvDir)..\..\SDK\v2.0\bin\mt.exe -manifest $(ProjectDir)$(TargetName).exe.manifest -outputresource:$(TargetDir)$(TargetFileName);#1 But gave error 9009- didn't like the beginning "C:\Program ", error text in the output windo being "'C:\Program' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file." So I put that $(DevEnvDir) into quotes: "$(DevEnvDir)"..\..\SDK\v2.0\bin\mt.exe -manifest $(ProjectDir)$(TargetName).exe.manifest -outputresource:$(TargetDir)$(TargetFileName);#1 exited with Now it finds and runs mt.exe but all I get is what I get when I run mt.exe from a command prompt as "mt /?". It simply doesn't seem to do anything. Need to elevate my apps' permissions and it doesn't do it. What am I missing here? It's the age old thing of having spaces in directory names. Put quotes around them: "$(DevEnvDir)..\..\SDK\v2.0\bin\mt.exe -manifest" "$(ProjectDir)$(TargetName).exe.manifest" -outputresource:"$(TargetDir)$(TargetFileName)";#1 Rich Sienkiewicz High Fidelity Engineering Top 1.
