Going to server reset... Exiting the waiting loop ... Would you please help to resolve this problem. Thank you in advance! When i connect to the server using ssh, i type the following xterm& which loads the remote shell in xming instead of desktop meaning i see the shell being forwarded and not gnome dekstop. I have also made sure that i am in runlevel 5 on my remote machine. I am suspecting that gnome is either not installed beacause when i run the follwing command startx I get the following error (EE) Failed to load mod
Managers, I am having a problem with running remote X apps from one server to another, which is hindering my ability to run the disk config utility "metatool", which I need to run in order to get a mirror going on some HD's in a D1000 that really need to be mirrored (and also add a warm spare for redundancy). Here is basically what happens: I "xhost +" on server A, telnet from Server A to Server B, set the correct DISPLAY variable, then run any X app (such as metatool or xeyes). The app starts and runs successfully, but between 5 and 60 seconds, the app quits and the following error shows up in my telnet session to server B: XIO: fatal IO error 131 (Connection reset by peer) on X server "192.251.235.20" after 2232 requests (2227 known processed) with 0 events remaining. My setup: Server A: Sparc 20 with 64 megs of RAM, running Soalris 7 server, 5/99. Server B: Ultra Enterprise 250 with 256 Meg of RAM, running Solaris 7 server, 5/99. The network between the two servers is a 10MBPS LAN. I cant run a local X console on the 250, it has no graphics card and I don't have a spare card :(. Many thanks for your response and assistance, I will summarize findings and post when solved or in a few weeks, whichever comes first. Please respond to me and not the list, as per the Sun Managers guideline.
