Press any key to exit.The message occurs about one minute into the read - after the message 'Setup is inspection computer..' has gone away. Here are the system specs: ASUS K7M rev 1.04 motherboard, Athlon 750, AMIBIOS 11/1/1999 62-0720-000000-0010111-071595-A751V686-1AABA114-F. The BIOS is marked (sticker) 686 AMIBIOS 1999 AF05 7559 (chip) SST MPF 39SF020 90-4C-PY 9947042-B

Does this error show up on other machines too when trying to install? If so, it could be that your installation disc is damaged or corrupted. If not, it could be that your hard disk is damaged or that the memory isn't working properly anymore. If this is the case, scan your hard disk and memory for errors. You give too little information to be of more service. P What you need - PeToUSB - Copy of Windows XP - 1GB USB flash 1: Put your Windows disc in your drive. 2: Insert your USB flash. 3: Load PeToUSB 4: Configure it with your sources and destination like this 5: Click start 6: Once it's finished remove the USB flash and insert it into your EEE PC. I have a corrupted registry and I am unable to boot into the recovery console with xp cd. I creadted the xp setup boot disks. I put the first one in and all seems well until I get a black screen for a couple of seconds and then I get an error " file \biosinfo.inf could not be loaded; error code 4096, cannot continue setup, press any key to exit. Well just in case someone can help with this issue here is what I have tried. I reset BIOS to all defaults. No go. I ran a bios update. No go. Still cannot run xp setup from the bootdisks cause of this error. Decided to try the cdrom again. I ran smartdrv from a bootable floppy and then ran the winnt file from the i386 folder but I get an error " could not find a place for swap file " any thoughts on this if we cannot figure out the first one.
