Will not boot off from CD either, when I did catch it once it gave me a error 7, file i386\halaacpi.dll could not be loaded. Then this error arose and the installation failed. XP home was originally on it. It was a brand new Dell inspiron 6400. When a member of staff put a virus on it while uploading software. The error code is 4The error states that a file off of the Windows cd could not be loaded. This means that you either have a scratched disc, or the location in memory where the file was being loaded is corrupt or broken. Try buffing the cd, or if that doesn't work, try swapping one(if there are several) of the memory modules out at a time, or trying a different memory stick all together(if it has only one module).
