Windows XP Won't Start - No Orig Setup CDROM Started by RT3 , Aug 03 2010 04:53 PM Page 1 of 3 1 2 3 Next Please log in to reply #1 RT3 Posted 03 August 2010 - 04:53 PM RT3 Member Member 21 posts I have an Emachines T3256 and Windows won't start, can't file i386 c_1252 access any menus, not responding at all, etc. Error message says Windows could not start because following file missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\system32\c_1252.nls You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows set up using original CDROM... I also get another screen that says Primary Master Hard Disk S.M.A.R.T Bad... a screen that gives me options I guess to restart:SAFE MODE, LAST KNOWN GOOD CONFIGURATION (most recent settings that worked), START WINDOWS NORMALLY. I tried them all and nothing works. Windows XP came preinstalled on my computer and a original Windows XP Setup CDROM is not available from Emachines. If I can't fix it is there a way to save the files, pictures, etc on the computer? Any help would be greatly appreciated! 0 Advertisements #2 Macboatmaster Posted 03 August 2010 - 05:09 PM Macboatmaster 7k Member 7,237 posts http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830088 Please see the attached link.
