As far as Irecall, 'doze has to occupy hd0,0, as evinced in the menu.lst ( rootnoverify (hd0,0) ).Deej Offline #3 2009-04-27 15:13:06 JK3mp Member Registered: 2009-03-25 Posts: 105 Re: Grub Error 22 [SOLVED] Ahhh..i must've got mixed up. My only labels, are sda -----sda1 <--some windows default something idk wtf it is, lol. only like 4mb or somethin-------sda2 <----NTFS volume (windows)-------sda3 <-----Linux Volume , and i thought it was based off there label, like hda1, is hd0,1 , and hda2, hd0,2 etc. So would the NTFS volume windows need to be set as (hd0,1) in the grub config? Recently, I helped a friend of mine dual-boot Ubuntu on his new laptop. However, we ran into issues with the internet connection and decided to remove it. Now he receives a "Grub error 22" when he starts up the system and can't load Windows Vista. I believe that Grub 22 is when the BIOS attempts to load the Grub bootloader, but it isn't there and doesn't know what to do. The only way I know of to fix this is to reinstall Ubuntu in a really small partition and ignore it, but I'm hoping there is a better way. Please help. Boot from the CD and use it. In addition, I suppose you'll want to resize your Windows partition back to its original size (to occupy the entire disk); you may achieve that using almost any live linux distro containing a partition editor (Knoppix, Ubuntu...)
