Booted up this morning and found: GRUB Loading stage1.5. GRUB loading, please wait. . . Error 22 I found that this GRUB error means: 22 : "Must load Multiboot kernel before modules" This error is returned if the module load command is used before loading a Multiboot kernel. It only makes sense in this case anyway, as GRUB has no idea how to communicate the presence of location of such modules to a non-Multiboot-aware kernel. Okay.. simple enough, lets re-install GRUB. So I booted up my live CD, and ran: sudo GRUB find /boot/grub/stage1 root (hd0,0) setup (hd0) quit sudo shutdown -r now Same error. You will have to format the drive to get rid of the grub loader, you should get that option when you reinstall vista. There seems to remnants of ubuntu on the HDD. You won't need the ubuntu disk. Any probs, post back Mike Reports: · Posted 6 years ago Top Topic Closed This topic has been closed to new replies. Here's a bit of my situation... I have a Dell XPS 430 that came grub loading with Windows Vista and a Win7 upgrade disk. I set up my main hairddrive with Win7 on one partition, Linux on another partition, and a third partition for storage. I recently needed more space for Windows, and no longer needed Linux, so using the Win7 disk manager I deleted the Linux partition and extended the Win partition using the newly unallocated space. Upon restarting my machine, I am no longer able to boot into windows, but instead am presented with grub loading please the message: GRUB Loading, please wait... Error 22 I have a Win7 disk that I am using to access the repair utility, which I have run countless times. I have tried severel of the tutorials to rebuild BCD and FixMBR, etc etc. Frankly I am getting lost in all the commands and not even sure what does what anymore! Help please??? Now when I was trying to reinstall the same OS on with extra functionalities on the previous OS, it did fine on the first computer (the frontend). I had to remove my CD midway and now when I boot the computer from harddisk, I get an error msg like: Grub loading stage 1.5 Grub loading , please wait Error 22 After this, i get no prompt or nothing whatsoever.. i cant even type a single character.. wht should I do? install Windows or Linux over it again? Is that the only option?? Please reply .. I have been stuck up here since long now Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks and Regards, Priyanka. 02-19-2006 #2 exploder View Profile View Forum Posts Private Message View Articles Linux Newbie Join Date Jun 2005 Location 127.0.0.1 Posts 164 Run the Windows XP CD and go for 'recovery console' and at the prompt type 'fixmbr' you can try 'fixboot' as well. Let me know if it worked or else you can run Knoppix Live cd and back up your windows data and you can play around with it to get back the GRUB menu by typing "grub" at the console after you get the Knoppix desktop. With Live o/s it will boot from the CD and it wont harm your pc hard drive. Then you can mount your h
