Hi friends, I have a xeon grub loading machine with 3 hard disks and 512 mb of RAM. I have RHEL 7 installed in this machine. I installed RHEL AS 4 on it. I formatted all the partitions and created new ones as per need. The installation went successful but when i was asked to reboot the machine...it is hanging with the message "GRUB loading stage2.....".I did not create any boot partition as i was advised it is not mandatory... Why it is not proceeding grub loading stage2 forward.? Any help would be appreciated... Join Date Jun 2004 Location Newcastle upon Tyne Posts 2,971 I sounds as though you have replaced RHEL 7 with RHEL AS 4 except the omission of Grub. I don't know where you get the idea from installing Grub not mandatory but the old Grub will have its stage1 (just 512 bytes) left in the MBR and cannot boot its stage2 which has since been formatted and the new one is possibly located at the hard disk but not exactly the same address.
