The problem started with a blue screen of death (BSOD) in Windows 7. After that every new boot results in a BSOD.
Dell Hard Drive Error Code 0151
I tried with a new installation but it also results in a BSOD during installation. I upgraded to the latest bios A09. The hard drive diagnostic returns error code 2000-0145. Trying the hard drive in another computer results in the same error code when running the diagnostic. Run diagnostic with a new hard drive in the affected computer is working fine but when switching to the original SSD drive the same dell hard drive error code validation error occurs again. What does error code 2000-0146 means? Any ideas? Thanx in advance, Bug Like 0 Reply You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available. Dell actually had a stroke of genius to design a diagnostic that identified issues with HDDs spin-up and test a drive's integrity. An SSD lacks a motor and may not return an appropriate response for that portion of the test, throwing an immediate error. It's not a standard for an SSD to respond with a bypass for a test like this, since it is a proprietary test. Some SSDs may not report this error, while other models will. I had to do a lot of digging for this, and tried several SSDs to see how this error code would appear. Again, not all models would have it, but it was consistent among all drives of specific models. Was a huge 2 month headache & nightmare for me. So on SSDs, I would try other software, or another system to verify the integrity of an SSD before ca

Both (SSD & laptop) only been used for 3 weeks. Everything was running well. Then couple days ago i encoutered minor issue related to the graphic card. http://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=82415 The dell tech rep reinstalled the NVIDIA G9400M driver then reinstalled the BIOS. But the problem still exist. So the dell tech rep told me it could be the physical graphic card problem and todl me dell will send a tech over to replace the graphic card for me. Later I thought of running a diagnostic check on my system (Fn + power button). After running, when it comes to hard drive, it displayed error code 2000-0145 self test did not complete. Test result displayed "fail", and asked me to continue or not (y/n). Then it went to check the memory. At that point I decided to stop the check. I called dell immediately and the tech told me that the SSD may have some problem, it may be ok now but down the road will show problem. The tech suggested me to replace the ssd, since my ssd is still under warrently. My laptop so far has no major problem; i can open applications relatively fast, system boot up/shut down smoothly, CrsyalDiskMark program still able to scan & read the drive. I was wondering will the reinstallation of BIOS cause the error code &

Today, the computer froze hard drive error when trying to shut down windows, so I held down the power button for a few seconds to force it to shut down. The next time I tried to boot up, it took forever for anything to work (about 4 minutes to the animated windows logo), and then ran a disk check. It said that it found and repaired some problems with the MFT, and rebooted. It managed to boot up completley, but everything was extremely slow and sluggish. After another reboot I managed to get it working semi-normally, and it wasn't too slow. However, after an hour of running, it froze again, and I shut it down again. After that, the computer never even got to booting windows. I got a message telling me to select a proper boot device. I ran Dell's diagnostic utility, and it failed on the hard disk check. It gave me an error code of 2000-0151. I also tried booting a linux live CD, and it took a long time to start up. It kept giving the error message "ata1: COMRESET failed (errno=-16)", and I heard some strange clicks afterwards, but it eventually started up. It took much longer than usual to mount the hard disk, but strangely enough I was able to get at least partial access to the disk. It froze when trying to access one of the folders, and after a while it clicked again. gparted couldn't detect the hard disk. Is there s
