Fujitsu Hdd Failure Started by SQLCommando , Nov 21 2007 08:34 PM Please log in to reply 12 replies to this topic #1 SQLCommando SQLCommando Members 3 posts OFFLINE Local time:04:32 PM Posted 21 November 2007 - 08:34 PM I have a SOTEC Laptop 3120X with a failed model MHT2040AH Fujitsu HDD. The HDD serial nmber is Np02T5229H39. The machine will not boot, and when tested using Fujitsu's HDD utility it presents the error message "B101T6" and recommends calling Fujitsu support to translate the meaning of the error message I've tried formatting the drive, but nothing will recover or restore it's functionality. This is the second Fujitsu HDD I've had to put in this computer since purchasing it in 2005. There are no cooling problems. The computer actually gets very little use (even before it croaked!!!) My questions then ... are Fujitsu HDD's crapola? ... What does the error code mean? ( besides that I need to buy a new one!!!!) What type of 2.5" drive would you recommend as a replacement for this computer. Thanks all and happy turkey day! Back to top BC AdBot (L

The manufacturer's diagnostic program tells me it failed http://fixingmycomputer.com/hardware-test/hard-drive-diagnostic.html the test with error code A101T7. Does anyone know where I would find a list of error codes ? Obviously the drive is toast but I'd still like to know what the cause of the error was. Otherwise, download a diagnostic CD from your hard Drive manufacturer. One great advantage of doing that is that if your hard drive is failing, the software will give you an error code that you can use to issue an RMA for your Hard Drive in case it is still under warranty. If you don't know your manufacturer, boot your PC and look for the Primary Master Download directly from the manufacturer. Maxtor Powermax (Also for Quantum HDD) Western Digital HDD Diagnostic (WDC) FUJITSU Hard Drive Diagnostic tool. Seagate HDD Diagnostic tool Hitachi Hard Drive Diagnostics (bought IBM's hard drive business) If you have another manufacturer, then simply type their name in google followed by the keywords "hard drive diagnostic tool". Download the file and burn the image on a CD. Boot from the CD and run the test. The test will give you an error code if there are any. Write that down if your HDD is still under warranty and contact the manufaturer. Assuming that your Hard Drive is good, let's continue troubleshooting.
