I have found Kaspersky to have the absolute best protection anywhere. You can buy it here… it’s only about $60. You can also click the banner below. Here is what I recommend: Yesterday, in the middle of switching between user accounts, hard drive my Girlfriend's laptop went blank, then blue screen, then when everything restarted an awful error message appeared: "No bootable devices--strike F1 to retry boot, F2 for setup utility" If you ask tech support, they will likely suggest wiping your hard drive (if it is just corrupted) and starting over, or buying a new hard drive (if it really is dead) and starting over. Both options suck. And both options equal loosing any data you have on your no boot device computer. Going through pages and pages of search results, forum discussions, troubleshooting guides, etc...I fixed my "No Bootable Devices" error in a very simple way...and learned a lot about troubleshooting internal HDD errors. I have looked for settings in the BIOS for SATA drives and can't find anything about hard drives at all. If someone could help I would be very greatful. There has to be something in the bios telling the system that it has a hard drive. You might have to boot up using a CD with XP or floppy boot disk. Any new drive needs to be formatted and an OS has to be installed on it Mar 7, 2007 #2 nealdarty TS Rookie Topic Starter I have tried to boot up using windows xp and get the message windows did not detect any hard drives and then the computer trys to restart. I have tried the drive with and without the drive caddy and I even took the bottom off the laptop and made sure the drive was seated all the way in. As for the bios I have looked in every option and only found one option that related to hdd and that was hdd aucoustic mode. Moderator Edit: Read: Dell Bios Password removal.
