Yes Is it a software problem? No If it is a software ps3 hard drive problems problem, have you made sure that you have downloaded the latest version of this software? - Are you running CFW? No What CFW are you running? - Is your console bricked? I don't think so If so, do you know why it's bricked? - Have you ever downgraded your console with hardware flashers? (Teensy, ProgSkeet, E3 Flasher, etc...) No Have you tried searching the forum for someone experiencing the same problem before posting? Yes Describe your problem: Ok so i recently was playing skyrim for the PS3 and then it froze for quite a while, so i had to restart. But when it came back on again it said "Cannot Start. Correct hard disk not found". So i searched and searched for answers. I did find threads regarding this issue, but their issue was related to hacks (something about e3flasher/flashing and something else). I don't hack so i don't know any of those things.Anyways i tried doing these: 1.) Tried to "reseat" the HDD 2.) Blew the dust off 3.) Tried system restore (it would not allow me to access the menu though, it always comes back to the "Cannot Start. Correct hard disk not found" prompt) The HDD in question is a Fujitsu 160GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s. Have not done, but will try ASAP (from what i read online): 1.)Jumper shunt 2.) Vacuu

Everything works great, except for occasionally when you start the PS3 up it will freeze at an error screen saying that the correct hard drive was not found. Sometimes restarting will fix this error, but it seems to only http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/3652/how-do-you-fix-correct-hard-drive-not-found-error-on-ps3 come up at random. How do I get this error message to stop coming up ever again? ps3 share|improve this question asked Jul 27 '10 at 16:05 Christian 1,20431532 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote The first thing I'd check is the hard drive is properly seated. It sounds like your suffering from an intermittent connection. share|improve this answer answered Jul 27 '10 at 16:19 stsquad 27516 Very interesting. I will check this out when I get home from work. –Christian Jul 27 '10 at 16:22 I wish this would have fixed it, but unfortunately I still have the same problem. –Christian Aug 16 '10 at 15:17 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote Do a backup of any save information. Make sure pins are in good condition on both the hard drive and PS3 connector (check dust levels as well) Plug it into a PC and do a zero data wipe using any compatible utility. Plug it back into your PS3 and let your PS3 format it. Verify that the hard drive specifications are equivalent, ie RPM, disk I/O, cache size. share|improve this answer answered Sep 20 '12 at 16:29 Enigma 1,46221347 add a comment|

The correct hard disk was not found. Hi, Replaced my 40 Gig Hard drive in my PS3 with a new Western Digital hard drive 2.5' 500G SATA 8m Internal HDD 5400rpm. Followed all the steps, successfully backed up data and easily replaced HD. However, when I turn the console on it reads the following error "Cannot start. The correct hard disk was not found." I took the new HD back to the shop thinking I had been given the wrong one, and they said that it hadn't been formatted, so that's why the console couldn't read it. ( Thought the console ps3 hard drive was meant to do that) Anyway, they formatted it for me, and I tried again.....still no luck and same error reading. Help please! Answer this question I have this problem too Subscribed to new answers Is this a good question? Yes No Voted Undo Score 0 Cancel Comments: Mike have you tried this: 1. Turn the PS3 off. 2. Press and hold the power button until you hear 2 beeps, then let it go. If held to long, the PS3 powers off. 3. From the debug menu, select "Restore File System". 4. Follow the prompts. Let us know how it is going. 01/13/2012 by oldturkey03 not an answer but im having the same issues except its a 320gb scorpio blue, also tried formatting through safe mode like ^ suggested 01/18/2012 by Elisei Filimon Add a comment 0/1024 Cancel Post comment Are you sure you want to delete this zzzzzz?
