have a new Home Build (About 1 month now) and I would consider myself an advanced user. I built my own system and had it evaluated and passed by a professional system builder. Bottom line, things have been fine until the other day when I started normally and received an error message during bootup on the initial BIOS screen dell openmanage server administrator when it was analyzing the RAID Array. I have an ASUS Maximus II Formula MoBo and have 2 250gb Seagate Barracuda's set to a 0 RAID configuration. The BIOS screen reports an error to one of my drives and when I boot into the OS it gives me an error message in the taskbar stating, "RAID VOLUME ERRORS: Some data requests to a hard drive in a RAID 0 volume failed but a back-up may be possible. Please try to back-up data immediately." When I x out of that message, I recieve an icon in the taskbar that states, "A drive in a RAID 0 volume is failing. Try to back up data immediately." The Intel Matrix Storage Console reports the error when it's double clicked on the taskbar and all information seems to point to the same drive as all numbers match. On start up, once desk top is drawn in, I get - 'RAID volume error window what is raid ... backup may still be possible'(I have fully backed up OK) ran CHKDSK from boot ... apart from one cluster fix - no problems, but intel rapid storage technology still declares Disk error on POST : PORT 1 Error occurred. In the Intel Matrix Storage Console (v 8.9) it shows: Port 1 error occurred. If I 'right click' on Volume 0 it tells me "1 ECC error found' I selected http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/247680-32-raid-volume-error-vista verify volume data , ran it through .. one Block reassigned due to media error no other faults. Reboot .. same issue. If both drives test OK on all tests, then mark the drive as good in the intel storage https://forums.techguy.org/threads/raid-volume-error.885034/ mgr. crjdriver, Dec 12, 2009 #2 Tafflad Thread Starter Joined: Apr 24, 2008 Messages: 68 are you familiar with this diagnostic ? ...I downloaded it and installed .. it runs up and in upper 'pane' nothing listed. Lower pane lists my 'c drive' .... but it asks me to highlight a physical drive .. I can't highlight or select 'C' ... is this because C is RAID pair and not a single drive ? I looked at WD web site, unless I'm misreading they don't support any test of RAID systems. They say remove drive from RAID array to test .... Can't do that in RAID 0 without losing all data and having to do reinstall of Windows. (at least I think not) Tafflad, Dec 12, 2009 #3 crjdriver Moderator Joined: Jan 2, 2001 Messages: 34,566 Are you using the windows ver or the dos ver? In any case, running raid0 without a backup plan is really asking for a problem. You must have a NAS, network share, third drive, external or some other way of making backups. crjdriver, Dec 12, 2009 #4 Tafflad Thread Starter Joined: Apr 24, 2008 Messages: 68 I have a backup plan, both NAS and external HDD ... but neither of these is relevant to the problem. I went to WD and downlaoded the windows ver .... as mentiuoned they state they do not prtovide any tools to test HD in a RAID array Tafflad, Dec
