for many people. Read on as we explain how it works, why it breaks your TV, and how you can fix it. HDCP: DRM for the HDMI Age Digital Rights Management (DRM) protocols are protocols designed to protect content creators and distributors against piracy. Different companies and industries use different protocols, but the basic premise is the same. The DRM generally performs one of two tasks (or disable hdcp both) to prevent piracy: it locks purchases to the purchase makers and it locks content to authorized devices. When you buy an album on iTunes and you can only listen to it on devices authorized by your account, you're experiencing DRM. When you buy an operating system or video game and they can only be installed on a single computer, you're experiencing DRM. RELATED ARTICLEAsk HTG: Why Does My New HDTV's Picture Look Awful? Content creators and distributors should be protected as it is expensive to create and distribute content, and they should be compensated for that content. However, DRM typically makes life more difficult for honest paying consumers and in many cases it can outright break the experience those paying consumers. This is the kind of trouble we run into with games that require authorization servers to run; if the company goes under so does the authorization server and suddenly the game won't run. In the case of the HDMI standard and digital video there's a DRM standard just like there is in other industries and that DRM standard causes an unfortunate amount of headaches for regular old consumers just trying to enjoy their televisions and engage in other legitimate activt

Veröffentlicht am 09.06.2015HDCP or 'High Bandwidth Digital Contect Protection' is a signal standard designed to protect HD content from piracy and copying.HowToAV.tv takes a look at how HDCP works - and how it can cause compliancy problems, errors and a lack of picture displaying on your AV system.HDCP works by the Transmitting device (or Source) sending a HDCP data signal to check that the Receiver (or Display) is also HDCP compliant. If either devices on the system are not compliant, then a HDCP error is likely to occur.Get even more information on the latest HDCP version 2.2 at the HowToAV Blog here: http://www.cie-group.com/blog/12/what...ALSO NOW AVAILABLE: Latest HDCP 2.2 vdieocast from the HowToAV Team:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=suw0a...#howtoavIf you have a question for the HowToAV team, send us a tweet at https://twitter.com/HowToAV or leave us a message in the Comments section below...Where to Buy: http://www.cie-group.com/ Kategorie Wissenschaft & Technik L
TV for a while now, as you can see in the "Ambient TV lighting with XBMC Boblight, OpenElec and WS2811/WS2812 LEDs", to make colorful lights (LEDs) light up matching the video you're seeing on your TV. http://www.tweaking4all.com/home-theatre/remove-hdcp-hdmi-signal/ The downside of that project is that it only works for a dedicated HTPC running for example Kodi (XBMC). But what if I'd like to see this with video from my XBox 360, XBox One, Wii, or … Blu-ray player https://help.hbogo.com/hc/en-us/articles/214919478-What-is-HDCP- or cable box? Besides the fact that we need to grab this video, and all it's technical complications, we will be running into a copy protection issue called HDCP, a HDMI feature nobody really asked for. Please note that hdcp error I'm not writing this article to promote pirating content! This article is solely aimed at using non-HDCP compliant equipment with equipment that seems to require HDCP. So I'm looking at older HDMI LCD/LED/Plasma TV's, HDMI Projectors, Game Recording (PS3), taking screenshots for documentation and/or articles, and of course my own little project to generate ambient light behind my TV! Please keep this in mind. HDMI and HDCP - Some background information HDCP is a copy protection that was added to hdmi hdcp error the HDMI standard, at a later time, by Intel. The first HDMI versions did not include HDCP, but most modern HDMI capable devices support it. The content, or content source (where the "output" comes from), determines if HDCP is needed, and is/was intended to prevent content to be displayed or recorded by unauthorized devices. See it as the digital counter part of MacroVision as was used with analog video way back in the day. HDCP uses authorization and encryption - it verifies (authenticate) the receiving party (Destination or "input") - i.e. The video sources asks for the secret code from the destination device, before it sends content, so the receiving party is authorized and can decrypt. Even though the master key for decryption has been compromised since 2010 and some smart folks assembled a device for demonstration purposes, HDCP is still in full use. Just like those idiotic region codes of DVD's and BluRay's. Non compliant devices, an old (HDMI) TV for example, will simply display a message that the content cannot be displayed or will display a blank screen. Naturally a "HDCP remover" or "HDCP Stripper" device is not readily available to the public … or is it? CAUTION: Not intended to promote illegal copying and/or piracy! I cannot emphasize this enough! This article was not written with illegal copying, ripping or to promote piracy. The sole purpose is to be able to use non-HDCP compliant e
(HD) video and audio as it travels across connections—from your computer to your TV or monitor, for example. Your setup, from devices to displays to cables, adapters, and software drivers, must all be HDCP compliant in order to watch HD-quality videos with HBO GO. For example, if you are watching HBO GO on an HDCP-compliant laptop, you shouldn't encounter any issues. However, if you connect that same laptop to a TV, then your laptop, the TV, and the cable connecting the two devices must all be HDCP compliant in order for you to view HD-quality video in HBO GO. How do I know if my setup is HDCP compliant? HBO GO verifies that your setup is HDCP compliant when you play a video. If your setup is not HDCP compliant, HBO GO displays an error message and one of the following will occur: Video will play in standard definition only. If a standard definition video is not available, playback will be limited to either audio only or video only. In most cases, video won't play at all. In general, newer HDTVs and HDMI or DVI cables should be HDCP compliant. Older TVs, VGA cables, and some older DVI or HDMI cables are more likely to lack support for HDCP. If you aren't sure, try checking the manufacturer's specifications for the device, cable, or adapter. What should I do if I'm getting an HDCP error? If you've never had an issue when watching HBO GO with your setup before and get an HDCP error message, it's most likely that the HDCP authentication failed temporarily. In some cases, an out-of-date video driver or loose cable connection can cause your setup to appear as if it isn't HDCP compliant. Computer Close and then reopen your browser. Make sure your browser is not in private or incognito browsing mode. Go to HBOGO.com, sign in, and then try playing a video again. Try the troubleshooting steps in the following article: Blank screen or videos won't play. If you still get an HDCP error message, you might need to troubleshoot your device setup further, including cables, adapters, drivers, and TV or monitor. Mobile or connected TV device Close and then reopen HBO GO. Sign in to HBO GO, and try playing a video again. If you get an HDCP error message again, you might need to troubleshoot your device setup further, including cables, adapters, and TV.
