When the printer powers up, it checks to make sure that all modules are in place and functional. If one is missing, you'll get an error message. Here's essentially all I did for my fix - Opened the printer top, turned the printer off. Removed the "bad" printhead, cleaned the metal contacts on the printhead and printer with windex. Closed the printer. Turned it on. waited for it to reset. Opened the printer. Turned the printer off again. Installed the printhead. Closed the lid. Plugged the printer in again. When it was ready I accessed the HP toolbox and alligned
them. It will print for a little bit, then give us a bad print head error again. What can I clean/check to make sure the print head cradle is clean and not causing problems?ThanksChris Respond to this 0 First thing you need to do is check the tube assembly to make sure you do not have air in the tubes. This is one of causes of premature printhead failure. You can check where the tubes enter the carriage assembly, but the best place in to open the left rear door (remove 2 screws) and look at the tubes leading into the back of the printer towards the other side. If you see ink in the tubes but with pockets of air you need to reprime/purge the tubes and then replace any printheads that had air in the tubes. by dmzcompute on Oct 20, 2011 at 5:42pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Exactly correct DMZ.
