Uploaded on Jun 17, 2011Explanation of the cartridges + data error you may receive as the DesignJet 430 or DesignJet 450c boots up.For DesignJet Sales, Repairs, Service, Rental, Spare Parts, Support & More visit:http://www.hpplotter.co.ukThis video shows the process for all Designjet 400 Series (including the 430/450/455/488 Series), on how to check for Cartridge and Data errors on your Designjet. The machine is powered up and put through the Startup sequence whereby the carriage moves along to the the right hand side and back to the left commencing to look for the encoder mark on the platen. You will probably note that the boot up takes longer as the sensor searches for the white encoder mark but can't find it, when it gives up looking an error code is generated. 95% of the time this will indicate a carriage failure and the odd 5% - a trailing cable which has failed to carry the signal correctly. The error on the panel indicates the need for an engineer call-out to replace the carriage. Category Science & Technology License Standard YouTube License Show more Show less Loading... back and forth. Cartridge carrier stops on the right side with cartridges, data, and media light steadily lit. Hit the cancel button and this toggles it to the align media and media lights being steadily lit. I have cleaned the encoding strip and reseated the trailing cable but still have same results. Any suggestions? Respond to this 0 Something is making the plotter think that the carriage isn't moving correctly. If the carriage moves smoothly by hand with the plotter turned off, then try to move the cutter by hand. Also inspect the rubber belt that drives the carriage and the pulley on the left side that the belt rides over.If you see rubber crumbs under the belt you need a new one.Other causes could be the https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M2G7V1-VY84 carriage motor, the carriage assembly, or even the electronics module. by MMurray on Jan 31, 2006 at 11:28am Add comment Please sign in to comment Thanks for info. Everything moves freely and I replaced the belt a few months ago. - unknown 0 Most times this is an issue with the interaction of the carriage assembly and the cutter. You need to remove the right cover and use the blue power button to defeat the cover switch by sliding it up the http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/35716 side of the switch. Now watch the carriage assembly as the printer initializes and see exactly what happens when the carriage assembly moves all the way to the right. It could be that the carriage and cutter are getting hung up together during initilization which should not occur and it prevents the carriage from returning to the left and thus the y axis shutdown. by dmzcompute on Jan 31, 2006 at 7:38pm Add comment Please sign in to comment On the carriage assembly's third trip to the right it stops with it's catch on top of the metal catch of the cutter. They are not stuck together. - unknown 0 You can do a simple test. The cutter attachment on the carriage assembly if I remember correctly is held by two screws. Just remove the screws and remove the attachment. Now power on the printer and see if it still gets stuck. If so then it is something else. If it initializes without error then it is the attachment or the cutter interfering with one another. by dmzcompute on Feb 1, 2006 at 1:56pm Add comment Please sign in to comment DMZ, thank you so much for your postings to help me out (and those that have helped many others, and therefore me as well). I have the same problem described in a previous post (plotter startup crashes when carriage moves over and engages cutter), where you suggested removing the cutter attachment on the carriage assembly
