the carriage belt was completely shredded/destroyed. I replaced it, and put everything back together (with no leftover parts!). Now when I turn the plotter on, it cycles through the Print Quality, Media Type, and Media Source lights in green three times, then all lights go off and the Error Group designjet 450c cartridge light flashing "Media" light comes on flashing orange. Nothing else happens - the carriage does not move, nothing whizzes or

In other words it should not be sticking out. Also make sure the cover is closed. Roll paper is loaded, and aligned properly as far as I can tell. I had to do this manually, instead of the process that the users manual recommends, since the "Load Media" button does nothing to feed the paper in. I get the same results whether there is a roll attached, unattached, or whether paper is loaded or unloaded. Also, the blue handle is up and the cover switch is triggered so I can see what's going on. If anyone has other suggestions, or troubleshooting steps, I'm more than happy to follow them. Thanks again. by mattmeitzner on Apr 3, 2008 at 7:58am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Go to the link below and download the service manual. You will see that the only cause for that light during initialization is if the cover is open, the paper is loaded incorrectly or the media lever is in the wrong position. You may want to play with the lever to make sure when you move it the back part of the platen which holds the paper against the platen frees up from the platen like when you load the paper by hand without using the blue button. Also there is a service mode which is described in the manual which you can enter to do test of the various components to see what may be wrong. Most times wh
