Solved HP Designjet 5000ps won't accept new print heads (reseat error) Posted on 2009-07-01 Printers and Scanners 1 Verified Solution 4 Comments 1,994 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-15 We have a Designjet hp designjet 5000ps. Some of the print heads need replacing due to normal wear... magenta, black, light cyan. When I insert any of these new print heads with the exact same part number new ones, the printer says "RESEAT" on the display for that printhead. Multiple reinsertions do not help. If I reinsert the old printhead for that color it says OK again and will print normally (though with degraded quality or calibration hp designjet 5500 failure due to the worn print heads) It is the same for any of the three new printheads in any combination. I have, of course, removed the protective tape, etc on the new print heads, and inspected them and the contacts in the carriage for any problems... none obvious. I have also thoroughly cleaned the contacts in the carriage using the official carriage interconnect wiper kit. Have not tried different new print heads yet, as it seems unlikely that three different new print heads would be bad. I had the carriage and cable assembly out about 6 months ago for belt replacement, and the cable assembly looked to be in good shape and has been working fine up until now, and it does still work with the old print heads, so I don't think it's the cable assembly. How do I get it to accept the new print heads? 0 Question by:wojtow Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 62 Active 1 day ago Best Solution by☠ MASQ ☠ Yes unfortunately it does know the printheads are out of date. It also knows how long exisiting printheads have been in use. Some forums report you can wind back the system clock on your PC (just adjusting Go to Solution 4 Co
