She has a workstation running Windows XP Prof SP3 and is trying to print to a HP Designjet 500 with 160MB RAM. Whenever she tries to print this artwork, she gets the following error message on this printer's LCD: "Warning 71:06 Out of memory Data was lost." She has tried the following: Reducing the size of the artwork Printing artwork as a bitmap Using an option labeled "Avoid out of memory" on the Advanced tab in Printing Preferences. The trick is to set the driver to process the job at the computer (which has plenty of memory) and then send the rasterized job to the printer. Go to Printer Properties. Select the Advanced Tab. Check "Start printing after last page is spooled". That should force the driver to process on the computer first. 0 Jalapeno OP Ronald6982 Jul 7, 2010 at 1:19 UTC Thank you for your quick response Scott. Unfortunately your suggestion has not resolved this issue. This is an extremely frustrating issue. Our graphic artist has also tried converting the file to Adobe's Illustrator 3 format with the same results. Since she recently installed Adobe Creative Suite 5 I suggested that she try recreating the file using Adobe InDesign 5 in hopes that the newer version handles file differently. 0 Tabasco OP Scott Lundberg Jul 7, 2010 at 1:59 UTC I'm sure it's the driver issue, maybe yours needs to be set in a different place. Can you confirm which driver version you are using? I can verify whether it's the same on my end and go through the settings with you.... 0 Jalapeno OP Ronald6982 Jul 7, 2010 at 2:22 UTC I would like to take you up on yo

Every time I've come across the "data loss error", that's solved the problem for me. 1 Datil OP Priscilla@HP Nov 7, 2013 at 11:29 UTC Brand Representative for HP Pieter, sorry to read that you are getting the infamous "out of memory - data loss error". HP has a support document entitled, "HP Designjet Printers - Out of Memory Problems" that describes causes of the problem and provides some solutions. Click here. However, I see a similar post on the HP Forum. The solution is the same that member George Baratta gave: "send as bitmap". As you will notice several responses indicate that the solution worked. Thanks very much George. Pieter, at your convenience, let us know if the issue has been resolved. 0 Sonora OP pjs12303 Nov 10, 2013 at 1:11 UTC The issue was resolved with the "send as bitmap" Thanx 0 Datil OP Priscilla@HP Nov 11, 2013 at 2:34 UTC Brand Representative for HP Pieter, thanks for returning to confirm that "send as bitmap" also worked for you.
