Hp Error 57.4
0 That is a main fan failure. The fan is located on the left side. Remove the left side cover and see if maybe dirt has gotten into the fan and is preventing it from turning. Check the connector below the fan which connects to the power supply. First thing would be to replace the fan. Sometimes you can remove the fan, clean it up and lube the shaft and it will work. If that does not work and new fan does not work, you need to replace the power supply. You also may want to check all the ribbon connectors which run from the dc controller on the right side down to the bottom and into the power supply. by dmzcompute on Jul 23, 2007 at 4:55am Add comment Please sign in to comment Do you know where the "power supply" and the ribbon connectors are located?by the way is ti easy enough to get to there location?Just FYI,Desktop Computer: Win 7 (64 bit),,, Service Pack 1HP LJ 4200 np/n: Q2426A C/N: USGNX19227___________________________________________Printer always has been working fine, then I placed it in the storage for one year and now it does not work.Error 57.4 ( problem with the fan)... I took the printer to a "laser printer repair shop" and the technician took MY fan out and placed it in his 4200 and the fan works great. He said its not the fan. He also checked the sensor and IT also works. As soon as the machine is turned ON, the Fan starts working and then stops after 10 sec. Same process is repeated when I turn Off / On printer*** What else could it be?fan info:Current: Nidec BETA SLModel: D08A-24PU 18BRH7-15720224 V DC (3812N1)0.10 Amp - hp 4200n 0 "clean it up and lube the shaft"...that's more of a medical problem.anyway...regarding the printer, typically the next component to suspect in this case will be the DC controller, which controls DC stuff and has other magical functions which I cannot reveal.turn power off, remove power cable, remove printer top and right cover, DC controller is the small PCB near the top, with a bunch of cables plugged into it. remove cables, remove two screws, remove pcb, install new pcb and screws,

There are 7 fans in the machine. Replacing the corresponding fan usually cures these errors; fans are a common failure part on this model. http://fixyourownprinter.com/posts/49309 Potentially a failing DC controller could also cause a fake fan error, but that is not common. Below is a description of each fan error, and the corresponding part# for that fan. We stock laser printer fans at PrinterTechs.
