Master 1,088 Answers Re: 81.0180 EIO 1 error On the back of the printer where the network cable is plugged in, in your case it is EIO slot 1.The problem could be the slot(EIO 1) or the JetDirect card that is plugged into that slot.Power down and loosen the two screws on the JetDirect card and reseat it. Power up and try using the printer. If the error persists, power down and remove the JetDirect and plug it into EIO 2.There are two screws that hold the EIO cover on. Power up and try the printer. If it works, take the two screws and the cover and use it to cover EIO 1. And you are good to go. If it fails again with a 81.02, the JetDirect may need changing Posted on Nov 02, 2011 Helpful 7 Not Helpful 1 Comment Flag Joseph Sliker Nov 09, 2015 Here I've been thinking the 615n card on my 4600 was getting flakey. You can try rebooting/resetting which can clear it but usually means a trip to the hp repair shop. When this error occurs, the printer goes offline and so therefore drops off the network and out of the Chooser.I'm guessing this maybe a problem with the JetDirect card. Does anybody have any experience of the error ? RE: error on printer display LawnBoy (MIS) 14 Nov 05 12:58 Yes, an EIO error is related to the jetdirect card. Could also be a faulty patch cable, hub/switch, etc.I would start by removing the Jetdirect card and then putting it back in. Sometimes the connections get dirty or loose. RE: error on printer display Auger282 (MIS) 14 Nov 05 13:39 615n cards are known to not stand the test of time.... I would go external or upgrade with at 620.... RE: error on printer display TCouch (Vendor) 14 Nov 05 20:24 HP does have a known issue with the JetDirect 615N's and if the serial number falls within the effected range, they will replace these at no charge.Do a search for my other posts, as I posted the 615N serial numbers elsewhere. After all, if HP is going to replace it with a 620N, I'd say that's a good deal.Timothy N.
