I have used the current versions of NS and an older version of iTunes, version 10.7, together for years with no problems. In December 2014, I updated iTunes to version 12.0.1.26. Almost immediately thereafter, although my iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen continued to be properly detected https://community.norton.com/en/forums/norton-security-and-ipod-shuffle-sync-issues by iTunes 12, I was unable to sync the iPod Shuffle with iTunes ("unknown error occurred (-53); disk is not available"). I recently upgraded to iTunes version 12.1, with no change to my problem or to the error messages. After many hours with Apple Support, all to no avail, the only solution that allowed my iPod to work perfectly with iTunes was to uninstall NS. Now that I have re-installed NS, the same problems persist - cannot sync iPod Shuffle with iTunes. Computer #2: OS - Win 7, 8 GB RAM, current license and version of Norton Security. As a test, I installed iTunes old version 10.7 from Apple website. Again, iPod Shuffle 2nd Gen was properly detected by iTunes but was not able to sync. Again, the only solution was to ininstall NS. After re-installing NS, the same problems persist. Apple Support told me to ask Norton Support for a solution. I would appreciate your assistance in learning how to make NS and iTunes co-exist with one another. The Required File Is Locked" error while trying to sync your Apple iPod using iTunes as shown below the fix could be pretty simple. All the error means is that iTunes is unable to read/write to the database file inside your device, their could be several possible reasons for the error which might be recoverable depending on the cause of the error. There are two common reasons for this error, first being database corruption due to syncing error or physical media corruption and second being library getting locked out for writing due to read-only attribute. In most cases this error can be solved as follows: Open My Computer and navigate to your iPod disk, now Right-Click the iPod_Control folder and remove the read-only attribute if on. Now, Open My Computer, Right-click your iPod disk drive and click Properties. Goto Tools and click Check Now button from "Error-checking section". Check "Automatically fix file system error" and Click Start. Let the scan complete, eject your iPod and reconnect. If you still receive the error, try restoring your iPod from iTunes. Add new c
