Do you have the same error message if you use the IP address of the LDAP server instead of its name ??? The mail server is our file server and I can access files from it, so I know that name resolution is working. Ldap Error Code 50 - Insufficient Access Rights Remaining Name
strange behavior lately: we have Novell servers in aur institute (University, with latest updates applied) ldap error codes to which we connect via AFP. The problem is, copying some documents from the finder returns an error 50. Mostly (but

not exclusively) databases documents (like databse of Entourage 2004 or backup databases from SOHONotes 6.3) return the error. Creating e.g. a new Word document, saving to the finder and copying to AFP volume retrurns NO error! http://www.office-forums.com/threads/entourage-ldap-error-with-exchange.2099946/ (same is true for .xls). The behavior seems to be erratic: copying a document from AFP volume to finder, then deleting the original and copying back works for certain documents, for other not... Even more strange: on some days we can copy these documents (automatic backup to distant volume), on some others not...What we tried until now: runnig Applejack (all tasks including cleaning caches and VM) in single user mode, renaming https://discussions.apple.com/thread/1047931?start=0&tstart=0 documents, numerous log-outs and reboots , rebuilding database(s), .... Making .zip or .dmg from the incriminated documents does not wort either...Interestingly manually creating a backup from SOHONotes at destination (directly on AFP volume) works without problem...Anybody with the same problem, or even a solution???G4 1GHz DP, 1.5 GB RAM Mac OS X (10.4.10) Posted on Jul 18, 2007 6:09 AM I have this question too Close Q: AFP, error code 50 and database (Entourage) documents All replies Helpful answers by a brody,★Helpful a brody Jul 18, 2007 6:25 AM in response to GTM Level 9 (66,882 points) Classic Mac OS Jul 18, 2007 6:25 AM in response to GTM An error 50 can be a read/write error. It may be your mounted volumes aren't solidly connected at all times, so a program might have problems reading and writing to those network mounts. It is best in such scenarios to operate on your files locally, and use networking just for "sneakernet" and backup purposes. not needed in Entourage, and the one you have is pointing to the wrong place for SBS users. Second, are you trying to http://www.tech-archive.net/Archive/Windows/microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs/2006-08/msg04209.html configure this Mac for use inside teh network or outside the network? I suspect you are trying to configure for an inside configuration, but for clarity, outside will not work unless you have the LDPA ports forarded through your internet firewall, which is something you generally don't want to do. I think that this will start working for ldap error you when you remove the settings you have in teh search base, however. When I try to address a new email in the Entourage client and I navigate the drop down list to Default Global Address List (Exchange), and try to search on an entry in the GAL, I receive an error: Unknown error (-17709), LDAP server error, Account: Exchange. My current settings under the advanced tab of the Exchange account settings are: ldap server: FQDN of my SBS 2003 server This server requires me to login is CHECKED. Override current LDAP port is CHECKED and set to 3268 and search base is set to: cn=users, dn=ttag, dc=int Our internal FQDN is ttag.int Send/Receive emails works fine and I receive emails immediately from the Exchange server without problems. Any help here is welcome as I would like to get the LDAP configured for the Exchange Server GAL. Thanks. -- __________________________ Richard Young, SBSC, CNE http://www.relyonit.com .
