Mci Error A Problem Occurred In Initializing Mci
formatted MP3 file. To check this please go to the Sound tab and identify the filename of the mp3 file. Then go into your base folder and try and open this file in Windows Media Player. Does it load? If not, then your sound file is not formatted properly. If Windows Media player will not play it, neither will AutoRun Wizard. If you can play your MP3 file outside of AutoRun Wizard, then its a problem with the encoding on that mp3 formatted sound file. Simply go to this free online media converter and upload your mp3 file. Choose to convert this file to a .wav format. After saving the newly converted .wav format, please add it to your base folder and select that .wav file in the Sound tab within AutoRun Wizard. I have currently created a simple media player using Delphi 7 and I'm running Vista. The program has also been programmed to collect and show the files ID3 tags. When i load up some MP3 files it shows the error "A problem occurred in initializing MCI". But the problem does not occur with a lot of other MP3 files and it works perfectly. I'm thinking i might have to get rid of TMediaPlayer and http://forums.devshed.com/delphi-programming-90/mci-delphi-loading-mp3s-tmediaplayer-592405.html make the buttons manually... But i don't want the hassle. Any suggestions on the cause? It's known that mediaplayer has problems with *some* MP3 files, depending from the version of the mediaplayer that is installed on the machine. Try updating mediaplayer on the problem-machine(s). 2. Maybe the sound drivers just need updating. 3. You also get an error if there is no soundcard, or the drivers are corrupted, or there are no drivers at all. But then it would not play any other MP3 files, so I just mention this here to help out other Forum readers. I'm using Delphi 7, think i should get a newer version? Faq Reply With Quote February 23rd, 2009,04:23 PM #4 No Profile Picture

I tried opening the same file in mplay32.exe and it works just like it should. Could someone help me fix this? mci error Thanks, Naveen Sponsored Links 18-05-2008, 08:17 AM #2 Telstar Guest Posts: n/a Re: Error initializing MCI Powerpoint 2007 and earlier does not recognize many mpg 2 video files. MCI is Media Control Interface. You need to use the Hyperlink function to point to the filename and let Player play it, or buy a third party mci error a add in. It is stupid, but this has been going on since Powerpoint added the movie function. The other option is to convert to mpeg1 or .wmv. "Naveen"
