CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive - but if it's functioning normal then check for game patches at the Microsoft site - I think there are a few available. This error is probably just related to another Microsoft released game that hasn't been finished yet - don't blame yourself - I have a few of my own. :) Also, stupid suggestion: make sure you have the game disc in the drive when you start. mejobloggs26-12-2002, 02:05 PMHey, I have Age of Empires 2, and i just got the error today, never had it in my life before. I just got a new laptop for college (Lenovo Y650, it has Vista 64-bit on it) and I have Age of Empires 2: Age of Kings. I installed it, and it installed just fine. Every time I try to run it, it goes to the loading screen, the disk starts up, and it goes to the first cinematic. Then it minimizes after flickering black. I try to open it up again, and it minimizes after moving forward in the cinematic more. I get the error "The device driver is not ready" with "MCI Error" at the top of the box. Any suggestions please?? Thank you. Update: I updated the sound card drivers and the same thing still happens... this is really frustrating. Follow 2 answers 2 Report Abuse Are you sure you want
