I have used ACLT2000 with Win98, WinXP and now I have installed Windows 7. I have this one community https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Error-printing-to-local-printer-Memory-Allocation-Error.html project that needs to be plotted. My plotter is a HP8750 Photosmart printer. This has worked with previous versions of Windows. Now I get two error messages. First is "Memory allocation error". I click OK and Second message is: HP Photosmart 8700 Series: The plotter configuration cannot be used. Either the driver cannot be found, or the driver has a problem. The None plot http://www.cadeverything.com/help/showthread.php/5920-Memory-allocation-error-when-trying-to-plot device has been substituted. Even my desk PDF will not print. Deadline for project looms. Help... (I thought I had posted this before but cannot find. Re: driver. Try uninstalling the plotter and then reinstalling. Uninstall first. Turn off computer. Turn on plotter. Turn on computer. Reinstall driver. Do a test print when offered the opportunity during the plotter driver setup. Did it work? If yes, then open AutoCAD and do a quick test plot as well. If not...well...it might be time to move up to LT 2011. a locally connected printer, the following error message is displayed: Memory Allocation Error. You might still be able to print from other applications. This error can occur if more than one printer shares the same port name (for example, LPT1) through a cable splitter or a switchbox. Check with your hardware vendors for a way to assign independent port names for each printer. Memory allocation problems occur between the program and the Windows OS. Those kinds of problems are hard to fix. The first thing I would do is to restart AutoCAD and try again. If that doesn't work, I would try rebooting the computer. If that still doesn't work, you will probably need to reinstall AutoCAD. I know that's not very good news, but there isn't much else that us end-users can do in this situation.
