Tags: Memory RAM Last response: 7 May 2012 07:35 in Memory Share Oscarmk 6 May 2012 20:59:38 Hello, After weeks of feeling like there was something wrong with my pc but not knowing exactly what was going on I finally decided to run memtest (DOH!), first time it ran fine for 2 hours but I have 16 GB, second time I got 7 errors in the same 2047 MB of ram within 30 minutes!. I started to suspect RAM because Starcraft II would have some fps drops and sometimes after playing I would get a "Starcraft II corrupt files", checking blizzard forums said possible causes: faulty RAM. And looks like indeed that was the case. The errors I get in memtest are like this: "Memory error detected! Copying between 4ac6a97 and 4ac69f4 did not result in accurate copy" or "Memory error detected Pair 81737404 does not store values accurately" More about my system (just assembled 20 days ago): Saphire HD 7850 OC (at default OC) i5 2500k (turbo enabled, i.e. 3.7 ghz while gaming) 16 GB Corsair Vegeance @ 1333 CML16GX3M4A1600C9B (but can activate XPS for 1600 but would this really help at all?) Maximus IV Gene-z/Gen 3 Motherboard BIOS - 0402 (first released BIOS) Blue Caviar WD 500 GB Seasonic Semi Modular 620 W PSU I checked my Maximus IV Gene guide and my Ram is fully supported. I also checked on BIOS and the timings and voltage is at 1.501 V which is good since it is rated 1.5 V. My question is if the RAM failed can I isolate the problem to the RAM only or is it possible the Motherboard is also defective?. Or perhaps the defective motherboard made the RAM fail?. At this point, I assume there is no option but to RMA the 4 Ram modules correct? Other things I did, was at only point since my RAM is currently running at 1333 mhz, I decided to activate the XPS profile which worked fine, but it raised my core voltage on my CPU and I just didn't like it so in bios I selected "optimized defaults" to reset to where it was. Is it possible this messed up something?, this was about 10 days ago. Other notes: Besides SC 2 everything else was running pretty smooth with no BSOD, but then again since my usual memory ram usage was around 10-20% I probably never even got to use those 2047 MB of RAM. I also feel like my pc is under performing in Starcraft II, I believe I am getting lower fps than I should

Recently my pc started to freeze up, and get no, weren't able to use mouse or keyboard including CTRL+ALT+DEL as well. I ran a MemTest using ( hcidesign.com/memtest ) and had some errors occuring, looking like this:"Memory error detected! Pair 28507496 does not store values accurately. MemTest has detected that your computer cannot accurately store data in RAM. You need to fix this." ( the pair 28507496 is not the only pair that gets the error message ). I shortly after ran CPU-Z to take some pictures for you users. To see if anything's wrong ( apparently there is ). So they look like this: http://img84.imageshack.us/my.php?im...che2999cq3.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?image=cpu2999sx3.jpg http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ard2999bk0.jpg http://img147.imageshack.us/my.php?i...ory2999rb6.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?i...99slot1hq8.jpg http://img84.imageshack.us/my.php?im...99slot2rr8.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?i...99slot3kd8.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/my.php?i...99slot4yv7.jpg If you are in need to see further of my pc speccs be free to ask, i can do a dxidag, and the CPU-Z log if needed. help here ! My PC has 2 DDR2 memory modules, 1GB each, for a total of 2GB RAM. The OS is WinXP. For the past few days, the PC kind of halting. Sometimes the cursor kind of not responding, sometimes some other http://www.velocityreviews.com/threads/questions-about-memory-error-the-use-of-memtest.604975/ things happened, indicating that something is terribly wrong --- most probably a MEMORY error. I downloaded https://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=881188 3 memtest programs, 1 from http://hcidesign.com/memtest/, 1 from http://www.memtest86.com/download.html, 1 from http://www.memtest.org/ First test - Booted up the PC with the Memtest bootCD from www.memtest86.com. Ran the test overnight. No error ! Went back to Windows, the halting problems cropped up. So I ran a second test. Second test - Booted up the PC with the Memtest bootCD from www.memtest.org. Ran the test overnight again. memory error Again, No error ! Went back to Windows, again the halting problems !! So the 3rd test. I drop XP to safe mode with command prompt, then call up 2 instances of the memtest from http://hcidesign.com/memtest/, each checking 918MB. Result - Errors ! Memory Errors Detected ! Copying between 4c21c71 and 4c2193a did not result in accurate copy. Memory Errors Detected ! Pair 19897713 does not store values accurately. Memory Errors Detected ! Copying between 5547871 and 5547832 did not memory error detected result in accurate copy. Memory Errors Detected ! Copying between 4c32471 and 4c323a2 did not result in accurate copy. Memory Errors Detected ! Copying between 36f8071 and 36f8060a did not result in accurate copy. Memory Errors Detected ! Copying between 4c32471 and 4c322d9 did not result in accurate copy. Conclusion: Something wrong with the DDR2 memory module ! Problem: Which module giving out errors? I got one of the DDR2 module out. Ran the memtest from http://hcidesign.com/memtest/ -- no error. Switch the sticks to test the other DDR2 module. Ran the memtest from http://hcidesign.com/memtest/ -- again no error ! Now I'm totally confused. Why when I ran the test with both DDR2 modules, I got errors, and no error when I ran the modules one at a time?? So I ran the bootCD memtest test again, this time with one module at a time. Again no error on both runs ! What am I doing wrong here? How am I going to locate which module that is giving out errors? Can anyone help out please? Thank you ! 3.hu, Apr 11, 2008 #1 Advertisements catchme Guest 3.hu wrote: > Need help here ! > > My PC has 2 DDR2 memory modules, 1GB each, for a total of 2GB RAM. > > The OS is WinXP. > > For the past few days, the PC kind of halting. Ohne erkennbare Fortschritte, passiert also immer noch. Das Programm MemTest zeigt nach kurzem Test (5-10sek) bereits den ersten Fehler: "Memory error detected! Pair 178403530 (hier kommen dann immer andere Zahlen) does not store values accurately. MemTest has detected that your computer cannot accurately store data in RAM. You need to fix th
