using a Dell Precision at work. It is a brand new computer with less than 2 hours uncorrectable memory error (module unknown) on it, running WindowsXP Pro. When I booted the other day the computer started normally but then a blue screen appeared stating that there was a

Hardware Malfunction and the System was Halted. Upon reboot I got an error message "Uncorrectable Memory Error in 10A0D000h". Any ideas what might have caused this and how to fix it. Unfortunately if I send the computer back for repairs it has http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=mmr_kc-0100555 to go to California and having dealt with California tech support before I don't have a lot of confidence in them. I ran diagnostics on the memory and one of the chips failed but I couldn't figure out which chip was faulty. Pulled them out one at a time and didn't get any errors using them individually. Thanks for the help. agrostis, Feb 28, 2005 #4 Rockn Joined: Jul 29, 2001 Messages: 21,335 Just hope you didn't void your warranty by opening the case. So that shouldn't be a problem. agrostis, Mar 1, 2005 #6 Sponsor This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies. It reboots and when it enters the bios screen it says "uncorrectable memory error previously detected in dimm 1 memory error or 2". I suspect that this means that I have a bad stick of ram in either ram slot 1 or 2. Does this mean that I just have to either remove or replace this stick of ram? Solved Uncorrectable Memory Error Posted on 2009-09-29 Components Hardware Server Hardware 2 Verified Solutions 6 Comments 3,703 Views Last Modified: 2013-11-10 Hi I have a Windows 2003 server running on HP hardware. The system blue screened this morning. Since then I have been able to get into it intermittently, but then it blue screens again. I checked the HP SIM IML log, and there is the following error: "Uncorrectable Memory Error (System Memory, Memory Module 2)" Does this mean that the DIMM in Module 2 is faulty and needs to be replaced? The system has 4 x 1GB DIMM's, how do I know which is Module 2 looking at the server from above, facing the front? At the moment, when the server is online, I checked Memory in SIM, and it reports that there is only memory in slots 1 and 4. Any ideas? 0 Question by:kam_uk Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 7 Best Solution byThe_Computer_Guy Either the DIMM in slot 2 is bad, or slot 2 itself is bad. If the error becomes "Uncorrectable Memory Error (System Memory, Memory Module 3)" then it is the ram, if it stays "Uncorrectable Memory Error (System Memory, Memory Module 2)" it may be a bad slot. 0 LVL 7 Overall: Level 7 Components 2 Hardware 1 Server Hardware 1 Message Expert Comment by:The_Computer_Guy2009-09-29 Also (sorry for the triple post), consult your service manual for an explanation of slot numbers.
