OS used a dell disk which already had SP2 on it. I used one that had SP1 only. I tried to use the correct disk and have the same problem as follows; When the repair gets to the point of installing devices at 34 minutes left, it reboots, and restarts the setup again and again. If I take out the CD it will fail and I can then look at the setup log. The error log gives the error: Setup encountered an error remove network adapter from registry windows 7 while trying to set system security. The only way I got these errors was when I was trying to stop the reinstall by taking out the XP disk. If there is no obvious answer to the errors, then the next question I have is can I just abort the reinstall altogether? There are multiple users set up on this PC with tons of apps and data and I would rather fix this then do a clean install. Did setup complete or does it fail at the error? If an upgrade what are we upgrading over? What Anti-Virus is running? What disk utilies are running? What type of Hard drive controller and what type of cache on it?
