forst screen and connect I get this network adapter error: java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection. How do I resolve this Network Adapter could not establish the connection error? Answer: Whenever you see a Network Adapter could not establish the connection, you have either the wrong SQL Developer URL the network adapter could not establish the connection vendor code 20 or you have a basic SQL*Net connectivity issue! This error is most likely caused by one of these factors: - You are using the wrong URL- The wrong port number or IP address (or DNS host name) was used- The listener is not configured properly- The listener process (service) is not running. You can re-start it with the "lsnrctl start" command or on Windows by starting the listener service. For a step by step checklist, see my notes on troubleshooting an Oracle connection problem. While this isn't an eloquent solution, we switched from using the Connection Type 'TNSNames' to BASIC (and then manually supplied the hostname/port/&SID ==> all available via a tnsPing or just looking at the tnsnames.ora file) and it worked. While I would have liked to fix it, getting his developer worker was more the pressing concern and we left it at that. hth –Harrison Aug 11 '11 at 11:34 add a comment| 10 Answers 10 active oldest votes up vote 6 down vote https://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=2150962 Re: SQL DevErr:The Network Adapter could not establish the connection VenCode20 Posted: Dec 7, 2011 3:23 AM in response to: MehulDoshi Reply This worked for me: Open the "New/Select Database Connection" dialogue and try changing the connection type setting from "Basic" to "TNS" and then selecting the network alias (for me: "ORCL"). share|improve this answer edited Nov 9 '12 at 11:19 Toon Krijthe 41.5k19110176 answered Nov 9 '12 at 10:59 Sayed 6112 add a comment| up vote 4 down vote Check the listener status to see if it is down: ps -ef | grep tns If you don't see output about the listener: oracle 18244 /apps/oracle/product

When I just downloaded SQL Developer2. When I used it after a long time (having made various changes to my computer)For the first part, I was too juvenile to know that I'd have to download an Oracle XE as well for the database. So I did download and installed it and it worked. For the second time, I got fed up and did the exact same thing.ie,1. Remove all the existing Oracle XE files (uninstall by clicking the setup file and saying install. The wizard will ask you to repair. Don't. Just choose the remove option)2. That done, again use the setup wizard to install. (Set the password for user: system as preferably oracle )3. Try establishing the connection with the given password. It should work :)43k Views · View UpvotesRelated QuestionsMore Answers BelowWhy was the NC (network computers) launched by Oracle a failure? What can be done if a Windows 7 laptop faces both error 651 and 720 while establishing a network connection? What should I do to resolve error 651 to connect PC to internet in windows 7?How do i res
