It happened when the user had a cell in editmode and you tried to automate that instance. Excel doesn't like it when you are editing a cell and some program is fiddling around in the background. So this is what's happening at your client (I think): Your client has Excel open and is editing a cell (select a cell and press F2) Your code starts: You create a TExcelApplication and accesses the Workbooks property. Since your Excel application is not yet connected it calls TOleServer.Connect (look at the implementation of GetDefaultInterface) Since the default connectkind is ckRunningOrNew, TExcelApplication connects to the running instance. Because the client is editing a cell you get an error on the Open m

Solved OLE Error ole error 800A03EC Posted on 2012-11-22 MS Excel Delphi 1 Verified Solution 17 Comments 10,504 Views Last Modified: 2012-11-26 I am experiencing an OLE-Error 800A03EC which happens on a Windows XP 32-bit Service Pack 2 PC running Excel 2003. This happens when I try to open a new workbook from Delphi 7, using the following commands ole error 800a03ec try ExcelApp := CreateOleObject('Excel.Application'); except ShowMessage('Cannot start Excel/Excel not installed?'); Exit; end; ExcelApp.Workbooks.Add(-4167); // Add a new Workbook ExcelApp.Workbooks.Open(XLSstring); // Open a Workbook The Delphi program works perfectly on several different PC's all running different operating systems and different versions of Excel. But I have two PC's that it fails on. The one described above, and a Windows 7 PC running Excel 2007. I'm starting to think it must be regional settings or some sort of admin rights / operating system policies... Anyone have experience or ideas which with this OLE error? hope ;-) the following problem, we face OLE-Error 800A03EC which happens on vista 32-bit-enterprise with office 07, when we export into a excel 07 file from a sql database, this error shows up on clients with english OS interface and portugese office 07. it works all fine on a german OS interface with a german excel 07, we have changed though changed the languages to test but no positive change. anyone any experience/ideas which this OLE error? thank you very much for your support in advance happy days Michael Mich@el, Nov 28, 2008 #1 Advertisements Shane Devenshire Guest Hi, xml export does not use any OLE calls! This error may happens only with excel-ole export. Try to check/uncheck the "fast export" option in the export dialog. Also, before you export your report into excel, make sure that is no violation of the rules of excel. In Example, if you have text "=Test This is Wrong" , then it can raise OLE Error, because Excel interprets it as a Formula.. So you need to add quote (') in the left of string (become '=Test This is Right). It'll happen too for all ambiguous condition. Make sure your data isn't ambiguous If this helps, please click the Yes button cheers, Shane Devenshire "Mich@el" wrote: > Good Morning everyone, > > you are my last hope ;-) > > the following problem, we face OLE-Error 800A03EC which happens on vista > 32-bit-enterprise with office 07, when we export into a excel 07 file from a > sql database, this error shows up on clients with english OS interface and > portugese office 07. > > it works all fine on a german OS interface with a german excel 07, we have > changed though changed the languages to test but no positive change. > > anyone any experience/ideas which this OLE error? > > thank you very much for your support in advance > > happy days > > Michael Shane Devenshire, Nov 28, 2008 #2 Advertisements Mich@el Guest good morning jan, thank you very much for your response! yes most likely it has to do with regional settings, .. it is working fine on all other clients in other countries, we just did find out yet which regiona setting it might be as we have copied all settings from a working machine and it still occures. but nevermind, we will not waste time on it any longer but guide the members in portugal now through a terminalserver application which will work fine. it is just strange as it was working fine on w2k and office 2000 and i can´t see any changes on those settings... but as said, thank you very much for your quick suppo
