We typically use ADO to connect to MS SQL databases, and would like to keep using ADO. I installed the pervasive client on that machine and have a ADO driver for Pervasive. I can create a connection in ADOConnection1 object, and it tests okay (using the connection string builder in Delphi). However, when I create a TADOStoredProc object and try to select the stored procedure to link to, I get an exception error "OLE error 800A0CB3". Any clues? I am looking at the Pervasive API for direct calling, but I don't see much documentation as to what the object properties and methods are. An example would be extremely helpful. (And I'm not even sure this is what we want, my boss is probably going to say 'use ADO'). The development machine is windows XP and the pervasive server is running windows 2008 64bit if that is an issue (version 10.3 of Pervasive) Thanks! 03-08-2011 9:14 AM In reply to Mirtheil Joined on 07-09-2007 Posts 4,733 Re: Connection issues with ADO and Delphi 2006 - OLE error 800A0CB3 Reply Contact A few questions:- Is there anything other than "OLE error 800A0CB3" in the error message?- What's your connection string? - Do you have Stored Procedures defined in your database? You mention the "Pervasive API for direct calling." Are you referring to the Btrieve API or the PDAC components? At http://www.pervasivedb.com/psqlv10/pages/default.aspx, in the SDK section, there is a download called "Btriev

is not capable of performing requested operation. I have MDAC 2.8 installed locally on my machine. Via IIS I created a virtual directory via http://www.bigresource.com/MS_SQL-ADODB-Command-error-039-800a0cb3-039--1lSe3cQx.html IIS that points to my ASP files on c: Via the SQL Server IIS for XML configuration utility I created a virtual directory with a different names that points to http://www.databasestudy.club/post/104370/asp+recordset+page+adodb+requested+kjvresp+provider+results+object+ezra+vbscript+eof+entirely+execute+odbc+microsoft+ole+returned+277+called+800a0cb3+cappucino+bible+true+cuppa+optaction+snide+drivers+800a0e78 the same directory as that created via IIS. The SQL database is on a different machine and I connect via the OLEDB DSNless connection string. I used a ADODB.Stream ole error to transform the XML against the XSL but I couldnt get it to work. To simplify things and work towards a solution I inserted the code into my ASP from the MS KB article Q272266 (see below). I amended the ms code to change the connection code and call a stored procedure that exists on the database. The ms ole error 800a0cb3 code gives the same error as my original code. I tried changing the CursorLocation to server and client but the results were the same. I put a SQL trace on the DB to determine if the stored procedure gets ran, it does not. If I run the following in the URL it works: If I run http://localhost/p2/?sql=SELECT+*+FROM+tblStatus+FOR+XML+AUTO&root=root&xsl=tblStatusDesc.xsl it works. If I run the xml template it works: http://localhost/p2/xml/test.xml The two lines above run. My IIS server uses a virtual directory called dev, so when I run the ASP I type http://localhost/DEV/secure/aframes.asp the IIS virtual directory creted by sql server is called p2 but has the same source code directory. Here is the MS code amended as described above that does not work. sQuery = "

Posted Data is FirstName=wendy+o%27leary& Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks just double up the single quotes, i.e. two single quotes in a row to insert one insert into nametable (firstname, lastname) values ('Wendy','O''Leary') rudy http://rudy.ca/ thanks Rudy, But the name is entered via a web page variable and I'll never know if an apostrophe is entered (unless I scan the entry) that's exactly what you have to do i think there's a Replace function (i don't do ASP), so replace each single quote with two of them rudy Rudy is correct. If you are using vbscript, you should always use the replace function to replace single quotes on any character type data field before updating/inserting into a database. sSQL = Replace(sSQL, "'", "''") You may want to write an function (called CleanSQL) and put it in an Include file that you reference on each ASP page that creates SQL code. You can use it to do security checks and strip out any other unwanted characters before executing the SQL on your database server. Not doing so opens your site up to a lot of potential abuse. Regards, Hugh Scott Originally posted by rnealejr Rudy is correct. If you are using vbscript, you should always use the replace function to replace single quotes on any character type data field before updating/inserting into a database. I used to double up the quotes. But I have found that the ADO Command object handles the quotes with no problems. Such as (pseudocode): Code: Set oCmd = New ADODB.Command with oCmd .CommandText = "ins_Person" .Parameters.Append CreateParameter("Name", adVarchar,adParamInput, 50, strName) .Execute Options:=adExecuteNoRecords End With No matter if the name has a quote or not, it will accept it...... since the code above uses named enums, you will have to include the adovbs.inc of course, or you can change the named enums to thier numerical equivalents.... -Rich ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cb3' When using an ASP serch form in MySQL on a windows2000 server using IIS ADODB.Recordset error '800a0cb3' Object or provider is not capable of pe
