But I have experienced "Input/output error": $ rm pic -R rm: input/output error nfs cannot remove `pic/60.jpg': Input/output error rm: cannot remove `pic/006.jpg': Input/output error rm: cannot remove `pic/008.jpg': Input/output error rm: cannot remove `pic/011.jpg': Input/output error $ ls -la pic ls: cannot access pic/60.jpg: Input/output error -????????? ? ? ? ? ? 006.jpg -????????? ? ? ? ? ? 006.jpg -????????? ? ? ? ? ? 011.jpg I was wondering what the problem is? How can I recover or remove the directory pic and all of its content? My OS is Ubuntu 12.04, and the removable hard drive has ntfs filesystem. Other directories not containing or inside pic on the removable hard drive are working fine. Cannot Open Directory . Input/output Error
(build 22) on CENTOS 6.5.Few days ago I saw that the server was down.After I Go to the robot.hetzner.de and enabled the Rescue Mod, I was saw in SSH that one http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/39905/input-output-error-when-accessing-a-directory of my Hard Disks is turned off.Then I was send a ticket to the Server Seller (The company that I Bought the server from them).They said we must talk with Hetzner DC.After one day the server was turned on but nothing is working true.I had to restart the server and then The server was not booted.Again I send a ticket to http://www.centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=47360 Server Seller and after 2 days the server is booted again without past problems.But when I want to transfer my another server backups that located on this server, I came across a big problem.Server Say this problem on many folders in the server:Code: Select allroot@dl [/home/****/www]# ls -la

All works fine except that the main HD where I had all my files are now inaccessible. Here is the error message I get: Error mounting: mount exited with exit code 13: ntfs_attr_pread_i: ntfs_pread failed: Input/output error Failed to read NTFS $Bitmap: Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation for more details Is it necessarily a hardware problem?
