I'm not very handy, and this still worked like a charm in 4 minutes. Assuming I'd have to spend $40 for a functional replacement, that's a pretty good payday :). On my player, however, you cannot put the cover back on, and the solution is simple. I had to make the tabs at the front of the case (on top, about 1/4 of the way in from the front) rest on top of the case instead of slotting back in to where they go. All five screws go back in, but there is less pressure on top of the drive (which seems to stop the white disk from spinning). I was too afraid to try lubing it. Will try that next if needed. Thanks so much! RM November 2012 Hello, I have a Panasonic ST-DT100 9 years old. It suddenly stopped playing discs (DVD and CD). After research on forums, it was suggested the spindle motor that spins the disc. I opened the player up, and tried to give the disc a push to kick start the motor. but this did not work. So I moved to plan B. I removed to innard sections to get at the motor itself. Share this conversation Expert: Simit replied6 years ago. This errors usually happens because the spindle(The thing that spins the DVD), isn't moving properly. You can try this to see if that will fix it:1) Eject the panasonic dvd tray, and unplug the unit with the tray out2) Remove the case3) Locate the spindle, and spin it gently a few times4) Put the cover back on and see if that fixes the issueIf that doesn't fix it, then the spindle will need to be replacedLet me know if you need any more help with it. Ask Your Own Consumer Electronics Question Customer: replied6 years ago. Is the HO2 error definitely the spindle? We saw the info you provided in Google results. But also dvd player error noted that people disagree about whether HO2 is spindle or optical reader. If you are sure this is the reason and solution for the HO2 code, then it's helpful. So far, we cannot get the case/cover off. We are assuming this means removal of the two large screws on the sides (plus more on back?). The screws on the sides are in very tightly, and only one of our tiniest screwdrivers fits them. Even my husband cannot get any of the screws to turn. Is there a trick to their removal? Thanks. Expert: Simit replied6 years ago. Yes, there are some people saying it is the optics. But it rarely turns out to be the optics when that error message is shown. If you turn the DVD player on, and you can hear the disc spinning, then that would mean that the spindle is working. But if it doesn't spin up, then it might just need a little nudge. As far as opening it, the only tricks that I can provide are general tricks to get any tight screw out. That would be to try putting a small drop of WD40 on there(Don't get it anywhere else). Then put a screwdriver in, and tap it gently with another scredriver handle to try and loosen it up a but. Then try opening it. Also, make sure you are using a screwdriver that is a good fit with the screw, or you will only make it more difficult to get it open. Ask Your Own

Discussed with technician and he reported that the gears get dirty and stick and need cleaning. Since last year, I get this message every 3-4 months. I take out all the screws from the bottom, open the cast carefully, and use some canned air, clear all the gears, gently rotate all of them. Put everything back together and should work fine. I did everythig but nothing helped. Finally I solve it with the help of an electric hair dryer in it's cold air fan position. Every time the same error code H02 appears the hair dryer solve it by strong cold air flow around the optical system as well as the weel. No need to unscrew the device just open the door and let the air flow do his best from different angles. hope it will do for you too. yours, Shaya. my e-mail is shaya.shakeri@gmail.com Posted on Feb 04, 2009 Helpful 3 Not Helpful Comment Flag You can't post conmments that contain an email address. × Comment Anonymously Video
