Join Now Hello, I have a few people on Windows 7 pro x64 and when trying to connect to our HP Color LaserJet 3600 hosted on a Windows Server 2003 x32 server I get the error Operation failed with error 0x0000007e. I've tried many things. I https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/147018-hp-color-laserjet-3600-operation-failed-with-error-0x0000007e-error-windows-7 installed the HP_CLJ3600_64bit_HB drivers on the server. I tried adding the printer as a local printer using a tcp/ip port and manually pointing to the above driver. I tried adding the printer as local using a Local Port and the HP driver I tried this command: net use LPT2 \\server\printer /persistent:yes I tried a hotfix from Microsoft 412895_intl_x64_zip.exe which said my system did not apply though it looks like it should. Nothing has worked. Any ideas? If so, guess it's file wise. The error can also be caused by an incompatibility between the Enhanced XL language and the software application that is associated with the file being printed, Adobe Photoshop Album in your case. The procedure in this HP support document for a different Laserjet model should help determining the source of the problem. In most cases the PCL5e drivers are recommended over PCL6 drivers. They work just as well and won't throw such errors. PCL 6 XL is less forgiving of slight glitches in the printer driver or software. PCL5e has been around longer and is considered more stable. share|improve this answer edited May 16 '09 at 11:16 answered May 15 '09 at 20:28 splattne 23.8k1686138 Thanks for the explanation. Upgraded to the latest version of the drivers and the problem seems to be resolved... for now anyways. :) –Matt Hanson May 16 '09 at 0:37 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote If you are using the PCL6 driver, try the PCL5 driver or PS driver. share|improve this answer answered May 15 '09 at 20:09 Joseph 3,3271932 add a comment| up vote 1 down vote Sounds like a problem with the driver -- see these links. If you have an option to use a postscript driver rather than PCL you might get better results, seems true for a lot of Adobe products. share|improve this answer answered May 15 '09 at 20:12 nedm 4,68242244 I second the PS vs. PCL comment.
