some people try to print to networked printers installed on a Windows 2008 R2 print server: PCL XL errorsubsystem: kernelerror: IllegalOperatorSequenceoperator: beginpageposition: 1217 The "position" line number always changes. I have done plenty of research and troubleshooting, and this is what I know: The problem started out of nowhere, but I suspect it was right pcl xl error illegaloperatorsequence konica minolta after Microsoft's patch day September 9th. The printers have been on the network and configured the same way for well over a year. The people who are having the errors were printing perfectly fine for well over a year. The problem affects a wide variety of users in multiple departments and multiple different printer models, all of them HP. All users are using Windows 7. Some users have the issue, while others with the same model laptop printing to the same printer do not have the issue and can print fine. All the affected printers are using the model-specific driver for the printer and always have. Bypassing the print server and setting the printer up directly using an IP port on an affected client fixes the problem. Changing the driver on the Print Server to the Universal Print Driver instead of the model specific driver also fixes the problem. I want to know why, out of nowhere, when I didn't change any d

IllegalOperatorSequence Operator: EndPage (for example) Position: 171 (for example) This error comes as the second page and then printing stops. Does anyone know what this error means and how to fix it? Thanks! Avery Avery, Oct 9, 2003 #1 Advertisements Thomas Ferguson Guest I suspect something has gone awry in the printer driver. The message was probably not generated by Windows but by the driver, itself. First: Delete and reinstall the printer driver. Check hp.com for available drivers. If no joy- Delete the present driver and install a different printer driver. PCL printers can use a variety of generations of drivers. First, check the HP site for a different driver. Check the Win Me disk. Contact HP product support. Let us know. -- Tom MSMVP PS-D "Avery" <> wrote in message news:0d1e01c38e67$2b1aacd0$... > PCL XL error > Subsystem: Kernel > Error: IllegalOperatorSequence > Operator: EndPage (for example) > Position: 171 (for example) > > This error comes as the second page and then printing > stops. > Does anyone know what this error means and how to fix it? > Thanks! > Avery Thomas Ferguson, Oct 10, 2003 #2 Advertisements Show Ignored Content Want to reply to this thread or ask your own question?
