A user who is running pcl xl error missing attribute Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! Word 1 Verified Solution 4 Comments 5,447 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-01 I have a Toshiba e-Studio280 printer. It worked fine until last week. I now have a problem when printing from Word 2007. I have an error message "PCL XL http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Printing/PCL-XL-Error-and-other-weirdness/td-p/164 error Subsystem: xlgs Error: PS Engine Failure Operator: SetFont Position:20." The position will vary. This is only on documents created new in Word 2007. Older documents print fine. I performed a Copy/Paste into Word 2003 and had the same problem. I did a Copy/Paste Text only and it printed fine. I can print existing documents from Word 2007 with no problem. The Test page prints fine. I have not tried to print from Outlook or Excel. This is a https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/24379552/PCL-XL-Error-printing-from-Word-2007.html network printer on our print server and is described as TOSHIBA eSTUDIO280Series PCL6, so that means Toshiba is using the PCL6 driver. There must be some type of code in the Word document that Word 2007 is entering. Does anyone have an idea how to remove this so we can use our printer? 0 Question by:RHWeston Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 26 Best Solution bysouseran You note the error "Error: PS Engine Failure" but state that the "print server and is described as TOSHIBA eSTUDIO280Series PCL6, so that means Toshiba is using the PCL6 driver." It seems the new documents are looking for the PostScript (PS) driver and erroring out when they encounter the PCL6. Is this printer set as the Default printer on the units that are having this issue? 0 LVL 1 Overall: Level 1 Message Author Comment by:RHWeston2009-05-05 My original question was submitted as I was going home for the night. On my network my DC also doubles as a print server, and I have the Toshiba setup there for sharing. All users access this printer as a network printer. I have

Although you did just help me out, I though it wouldn't print at all in MS Word, I just tried a print by changing it to B&W and it worked. So thanks for that. Have you found a fix yet? ProductsHomearound the homeproductivityHow to Fix PCL XL ErrorHow to Fix PCL XL ErrorBy Jane BuchananWhen attempting to print certain documents on a Hewlett-Packard LaserJet all-in-one printer, you might sometimes end up with a piece of paper with a "PCL XL" error code printed on it. This is due to the printer's inability to process certain parts of the document, such as embedded fonts or images. You can get rid of this error message and print your document by editing the printer's settings on your computer.Step 1Open the Windows Charms bar by swiping in from the right edge of your screen or by moving your mouse cursor to the top-right corner of your screen and sliding it down. Select "Settings."Step 2Click "Control Panel," and then select "View Devices and Printers."Step 3Right-click on your printer's icon and select "Printing Preferences." Alternatively, if you have a touchscreen device, touch and hold the icon until the context menu appears, and then select "Printing Preferences."Step 4Open the "Advanced" tab, set the Print Data Optimization option to "Optimize for Text and Vector," and then click "Apply."Step 5Print a document to test your new settings. If the document fails to print, power the printer off and turn it back on again before attempting to print the document again.References & ResourcesHP Support Center: HP LaserJet CM1312 MFP and CM2320 MFP Product Series - PCL XL Error While PrintingRelatedHere's Why the Internet is Broken TodayProductivityHeadphones for Sports and Fitness: A Shopping GuideEntertainmentLight Up Your Nighttime WorkoutsProductivityThree Social Media Sites You Might Not Know AboutProductivityHow to Restore Fujitsu Laptop to Factory SettingsProductivityHOW WE SCOREABOUT USCONTACT USTERMS OF USEPRIVACY POLICY©2016 Demand Media, Inc.Login | Sign UpSign UpLog InCreate an account and join the conversation!Or Forgot Password?
