A user who is running Windows 7 http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Printing/PCL-XL-Error-and-other-weirdness/td-p/164 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! PCL XL error's when printing 4 replies, 6742 views Posted on July 16, 2012 dspate Registered user Joined: April 2, 2012 Has anyone else out there had issues printing from MS Office 2010 to group policy deployed color printers? All of our Unidesk desktops http://www.unidesk.com/forum/troubleshooting/application-configuration-and-compatibility/pcl-xl-errors-when-printing have this issue with color printers only. Driver changes, print processor changes, and print server changes do not make a difference. I created a case with Microsoft and they recomended to use an HP universal 5.5.0 driver, and they was all the help they provided. Printing from other applications works fine. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. Hope it helps. Posted on July 17, 2012 dspate Registered user Joined: April 2, 2012 Thanks whoneyman. That did that trick. Posted on July 20, 2012 dspate Registered user Joined: April 2, 2012 So Whoneyman's zoom and fit to print option worked for a few printers. I stil pcl xl error have an HP CLJ 4700 that still spits out the PCL XL error illegal media size error. Any thoughts from anyone esle? How does everyone else implement printers in their enviroment? Darren Spatredspate@fcoe.org Posted on August 10, 2012 Rob Lasky Registered user Joined: September 28, 2010 We also were getting the PCL XL error pages being generated on many of our HP printers along with odd margin issues. What we ended up doing was creating Unidesk app layers with universal print driver and the printerinstalled locally in them. It's no different than installing the printer locally as admin on the personalizaton layer, which was our workaround for a little while before I got the layers built. Resolved all the issues with HP printers. We have a few different layers that contain printers for specific departments, so we just assign printers to usersthat way. The only thing that doesnt seem to work is setting the defaultprinter. But we had problems with that before when deploying by login script. We are still using our print server for our Ricoh copiers. The Ricoh's work fine as shared printers on the Unidesk desktops.
