A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and pcl xl error input read error release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! Everything seems to work (so far) if on the printing preferences advanced tab I set "Advanced Printing Features" to Disabled.Would be nice to know why this causes issues when enabled, especially as by default the driver has it set to enabled when install

Verified Solution 3 Comments 1,754 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-15 Hi, We have a Color LaserJet 3550 that prints all documents ok , except 1 PDF document. We receive a print out of PCL XL error which indicates a driver issue. http://forum.support.xerox.com/t5/Printing/PCL-XL-Error-and-other-weirdness/td-p/164 We've uninstalled the drivers and re-added them on our print server , setup the printer locally and the error still appears. We've also tried printing the document to other HP Printers and the same message appears . So this may indicate a formatting problem in the document . However , If I print the document to a Dell Printer it prints fine. No errors. There is only 1 set of drivers on the HP Website to download , so I cannot roll https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/23862326/HP-Color-LaserJet-3550-PCL-XL-Error.html back to a previous version. Does anyone have any idea's as to how to resolve this issue. any help would be greatly appreciated. Those printers don't have PostScript drivers, which would be the usual way to overcome PDF prpblems. In your case, try going to print, click on the Advanced button, and select "Print as image". 0 LVL 5 Overall: Level 5 Printers and Scanners 1 Message Author Comment by:bRvO2008-10-31 We'll give that a try and let you know , thanks 0 LVL 5 Overall: Level 5 Printers and Scanners 1 Message Author Closing Comment by:bRvO2008-11-03 worked a treat that did!
