OP LarryG. Apr 17, 2014 at 4:31 UTC Do you have a Postscript driver available for Windows 7 for it? If so, try that. 0 Pimiento OP lupeleal Apr 17, 2014 at 4:33 UTC I should have it. Why would the driver be an issue if the current driver was working before? 0 Mace OP LarryG. Apr 17, 2014 at 4:34 UTC It's not the same driver. Windows 7 uses different drivers than Windows XP. 0 Datil OP Gregory H Hall Apr 17, 2014 at 4:35 UTC DataGuys is an IT service provider. Sounds like a driver issue on the Windows 7 machines. Are you printing directly to the Kyocera or are you using a print server with a shared printer? I would also try the Universal driver for your model and see if that works. http://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.eu/index/service/dlc.false.driver.FS3920DN._.EN.html Get the one listed Classic KPDL / PCL5e/c / PCL6 Universal Driver (certified and signed by Microsoft) Report back your findings 0 Pimiento OP lupeleal Apr 17, 2014 at 4:39 UTC Sorry I guess I should have included this. (I'm assuming you're using a PCL6 driver now.) 0 Message Author Comment by:Ray Drummond2008-09-16 I changed the driver to PCL5, but since it hasn't happened again, I can't tell whether this fixed it or not. The user tells me that after the error occurs, they have to reset the printer to get it to work again. 0 LVL 16 Overall: Level 16 Printers and Scanners 14 Message Active today Accepted Solution by:DansDadUK2008-09-17 PCL XL errors should only occur if the PCL6 driver is being used (PCL XL is the 'official' name for PCL6). A bit of background: Most PCL XL errors are reported because the printer believes that the print stream is corrupt in some way. The printer is able to do this because the PCL XL language (the 'official' name for PCL6) is very highly structured - so any departure from this structure is relatively easy for the printer to recognise. The reason for a corrupt print stream could be: (a) A badly written, or corrupt printer driver. This is more likely to be the case if the error is consistently exactly the same (including the Position value) for the same input (i.e. the same document, within the same application, b
if the printer's driver has become outdated or corrupted from operating system (OS) updates or conflicting third-party software being installed on the computer. HP has identified the problem printer drivers for most of their printers that display the PCL XL error. They have released updated programs that can be downloaded and installed for free on the computer. How to Fix the PCL XL Error Step 1 – Log on to the PC with an account that has administrator privileges in order to update the operating system and printer driver. Step 2 - Run the Microsoft Windows Update utility on the computer. To do so, click “Start,” “Settings,” and “Control Panel.” Double-click the “Windows Update” application icon. Run the update feature to ensure that the computer has the most updated version of the Windows OS that could be causing conflicts with the printer driver. Step 3 – Navigate to HP's website (or another manufacturer's website if it is not an HP printer), and use the search feature to locate the updated printer driver for the printer model that is displaying the PCL XL error. Step 4 – Download the updated printer driver. After the file has downloaded, double-click it to start the driver update process. Depending on the version of Windows installed on the computer, the user may have to give the OS permission to run the program or enter the computer's admin login and password. Step 5 – After the driver update is installed on the computer, restart it and the PCL XL error will be corrected. Follow Us!
