A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL pcl xl error XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! Everything seems to work (so far) if on the printing preferences advanced tab I set "Advanced Printing Features" to Disabled.Would be nice to know why this causes issues when enabled, especially as by default the driver has it set to enabled when installed! in to Go to QuickBooks.com QuickBooks Learn & Support Home QuickBooks Help Last modified QuickBooks, United States 1 person found this useful PCL XL Error when printing W2 on HP Laserjet Printers You may attempt to print your employees' W2s and receive an error: PCL XL How to fix it HP acknowledges that this is a problem with the HP Driver for the Laserjet 4200 and 4300 series printers (which includes and is not limited to slowness while printing) and describes how this problem can be avoided. Find and download the latest driver for your HP Printer on http://www.hp.com/ then follow these instructions: Turn on the printer first, then turn on the computer. Click on Download Now and a File Download box will appear. Select Save This Program to Disk and a Save As box will appear. Select a directory to save the file in and click Save. Locate the file using Windows Explorer when the download has completed. Double click on the file. This will extract all the driver files into a directory on your hard drive. The directory these files are extracted to will have a similar name to the printer model that was downloaded (i.e., c:\clj2500). However, you can change the path and directory name at the time of extracting the file. Open the Printers Window (Click Start-Settings-Printers). Update the printer if it was previously installed Right-click on the printer and select Properties from the pop menu. On the General tab, select New Driver. Click on the Warning Box that pops up. A printer listing box will appear. Select Have Disk. Another box Install from Disk appears. Click the Browse to locate the expanded files directory (i.e., c:\clj2500). Click on the file ending with .inf. Click Open and then OK and let files install. Add the printer if it hasn't been installed yet. Click Add New Printer. Follow the instructions of the Add Printer Wizard. Please contact Hewlett-Packard for further troubleshooting inquiries pertaining to this error as well as downloading and installing printer drivers.
