Re: PDF brings PCL XL Errors michael_northdakota May 22, 2014 2:38 AM (in response to pwillener) Hello,Yes I've tried that and it does work, however we send these PDFs to all in our team and unfortunately we can't ask everyone to go into their Advanced settings and Print as Image every time we send a PDF it's just not reasonable for them to do, and we have a lot in our team. So within InDesign we have decided to Print the Indesign file to PDF instead of exporting it and then print the PDF as it is - it seems to have worked. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 3. Re: PDF brings PCL XL Errors michael_northdakota Jun 12, 2014 2:44 AM (in response to michael_northdakota) Hello, In the end we found a different solution - print as image did work, but we realised it was the Oswald font that was not compatible with these printers so we decided to removed the oswald fonts from our Indesign and exported the files without Oswald. Works. Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions Go to original post Actions More Like This Retrieving data ... Legend Correct Answers - 10 points © 2016 Adobe Systems Incorporated. PCL XL Error When I try to print a downloaded file http://www.justanswer.com/printers/74efp-printer-will-not-print-pdf-says-pcl-xl-error-subsystem.html (but not all) I get the following message: PCL XL error; Subsystem: Kernel, Error: Illegal Operator Sequence, Operator: Set Page Scale; Position: 2. I can print other pcl xl downloaded files, but some give me this message. I can not figure out how to fix this. Any suggestions? Bill Hays 1 Answer Edit Answer (for another 7 minutes) Hi,the printout is a processing error of your PCL XL (PCL6) printer driver. The reason can vary from file to file.Often it's a lack within pcl xl error the PDF structure the driver cannot handle properly. The most common workaround it to activate the "Print as Image" checkbox in the Advanced Settings of the print dialog of your Adobe Reader or Acrobat. This may cause a slower printout and larger spool file.Another option would be the usage of a PostScript (PS) driver for your printer. However, I can assist you further in Question and Answer mode. All of the PCLXL errors mentioned above could be caused by one or more of the following: - the application (Powerpoint, etc.) is not interfacing correctly with the chosen printer driver. - the printer driver you are using is generating incorrect sequences in the PCLXL stream. - the stream is being corrupted between the machine generating the stream, and the printer. It seems that the first or second of these are the likely causes. Before do any troubleshooting steps, please try printing the pdf file as image (Print as Image option).
