Feb 4, 2013 at 7:34 UTC You typically receive a PCL XL error if your device does not understand the printer control language. Does the device support PCL 6? Otherwise try the PCL 5 driver. It is possible a firmware update for the machine would enable PCL 6 functionality. 1 Anaheim OP long85 Feb 4, 2013 at 7:59 UTC I just got done fixing something very similar with an HP device and Win7 64bit workstation. Try downloading various older universal HP print drivers. A user who is running Windows 7 32 bit edition is sending files to print (using the secure print function) - the system is reporting they have spooled fine to the printer - but when they go and release the document they are getting (more often than not) about 16 out of 21 pages (for example) and then a PCL XL Error (Subsystem: Text, InternalError 0x50, Operator: Text, Position: pcl xl error 8564). I have another document that 9 times out of ten will actually crash the WorkCentre completely and cause it to reboot mid way through printing. The driver we are using is the latest: "Xerox WorkCentre 7655 rev 2.0 PCL6"As mentioned the user is running Windows 7 - the printer is shared from a Windows 2003 Server which has the same version of the driver.Any suggestions from anyone?Kind regards,Luke Solved! Everything seems to work (so far) if on the printing preferences advanced tab I set "Advanced Printing Features" to Disabled.Would be nice to know why this causes issues when enabled, especially as by default the driver has it set to enabled when installed! RE: PCL XL error thomasbeer (TechnicalUser) 16 Mar 04 11:52 I get that error:PCL XL ErrorSubsystem: ImageError: ExtraDataOperator: ReadImagePosition: 96This happens when I print from MS PowerpointWhat can I do? RE: PCL XL error DansDadUK (Programmer) 17 Mar 04 07:37 All of the PCLXL errors mentioned above could be caused by one or more of the following:-the application (Powerpoint, etc.) is not interfacing correctly with the chosen printer driver.-the printer driver you are using is generating incorrect sequences in the PCLXL stream.-the stream is being corrupted between the machine generating the stream, and the printer. The brief descriptions in the previous posts imply that the first or second of these are the likely causes. Not sure what you can do other than to check whether there are patches for the application(s), or updated printer drivers. You could revert to using PCL5 drivers, rather than PCL6 (PCLXL) drivers, of course, but this might then give rise to other unrelated problems.
