The printer was shared out - and the machines with the issue were printing that way. I deleted that and went to direct ip printing and no more errors!.. It's loaded with A4, "special" (pre-printed paper). Although the printer is set on auto on what type of paper, perhaps that's the problem? I can use tray3 with PCL5e drivers, but then I lose 80% of the options :( It works fine from Windows with PCL6 drivers. It seems that you specify nothing or "plain" in the data, which would give you a mismatch, depending on the machine configuration it should either stop and prompt you, or "autocontinue" and then use the default paper source. try to match the mediatype, and check on your Printer Features --> System , to see what your auto continue setting is regards Uli Wehner Host Printing Specialist Ricoh Americas Corporation Reply Quote Andreas Re: C2500 PCL XL IllegalMediaSource April 26, 2011 07:06AM Alright, so I've set Tray3 to Special in the printer and in the CUPS settings. Now it prints from the correct tray, but I still get the error message IllegalMediaSource. Autocontinue is off as far as I can see. It is likely that Windows XP does not support the drivers perfectly and thus causes errors (Illegal Media Source means that it tries to fetch paper from a tray that doesn't exist). PCL5e has been around for longer and doesn't have such issues. Bottom line: use PCL5e over PCL6 if you encounter problems. share|improve this answer answered Aug 13 '13 at 7:51 Sašo 1,1991611 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote It could well be drivers, however most posts I've seen suggested you shut-down your printer and cold start it up (remove AC power) This worked for me. share|improve this answer answered Feb 11 '15 at 9:33 user269836 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google
