Hp Drivers
The printer has a PCL6 driver. I tried updating the driver to no avail. My next step is to try a PCL5e driver. Does anybody have any suggestions? Mzun, Jul 27, 2011 #1 spatian116 Joined: Jan 24, 2010 Messages: 157 I just did a quick Google and it's very likely that it's caused by the driver. So yeah, change the driver spatian116, Jul 27, 2011 #2 Mzun Thread Starter Joined: Jun 29, 2011 Messages: 65 The PCL5e driver was installed over a week ago and no errors were reported since, so I'm going to mark this as solved. Using hp's universal pcl 6 driver. Hp apparently does not offer any support or specific drivers for this printer in win7 environments. After a bit of research the only suggested solutions were to fiddle with drivers until something worked. Any ideas?? PCL XL Error HP LaserJet 4100tn   13 Replies Anaheim OP Nate H. Feb 4, 2013 at 7:34 UTC You typically receive a PCL XL error if your device does not understand the printer control language. Does the device support PCL 6? Otherwise try https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/298969-pcl-xl-error-with-hp-laserjet-355-and-win-7-x64-universal-pcl-6-driver the PCL 5 driver. It is possible a firmware update for the machine would enable PCL 6 functionality. 1 Anaheim OP long85 Feb 4, 2013 at 7:59 UTC I just got done fixing something very similar with an HP device and Win7 64bit workstation. Try downloading various older universal HP print drivers. I ended up using Universal PCL5 and 5e for a couple of our older printers. 1 Pimiento OP AlekJ Feb 4, 2013 at 10:39 UTC Tried a firmware update, and every driver available (various version of both pcl 5 and 6) -- no results. Seeing as to how the issue is strictly with large color text files, I'm just going to overlook it. Apparently hp doesn't even support that series of printers with windows 7. Thanks for all the help though, much appreciated. 0 Datil OP Priscilla@HP Feb 4, 2013 at 11:57 UTC Brand Representative for HP Hello Alek, thanks for your posting. are the HP4200dtn model, and the other half the HP4250dtn model. On larger prints (5 pages +) it seems to stop printing after so many pages and print out the following error message, then followed by pages with a single line of https://www.daniweb.com/hardware-and-software/hardware/threads/107444/pcl-xl-error strange characters on each page: PCL XL error Subsystem: USERSTREAM Error: MissingData Operator: NewPath Position: 97553 It’s difficult to recreate the problem, it seems to happen randomly. This problem has started happening since we had some new servers put in a month ago. We are running the same server software (Windows Server 2003) as we had on the old servers. We are also using the same printer drivers for the printers, and every setting on the printers on the pcl xl new server is exactly the same as the old one. What does the error message mean? And is there something which could be causing this error? Some of the things I have tried with no success are: - Different printer driver on the server - Deleting all mapped printers on the PC’s, removing the printer driver, then adding the printer back to the users PC Many thanks for any advice usb-peripherals dd501 8 posts since Jan 2008 Community Member 3Contributors pcl xl error 4Replies 5Views 8 YearsDiscussion Span 7 Years Ago Last Post by kleinbaas 0 mechbas -5 8 Years Ago >>>MissingData Looks suspiciously like a RAM error somewhere. Thanks alot for your reply. Im sorry I didnt understand what you meant by the above quote? Is there something on the servers I should have done? I've tried uninstalling the printer on the server and re-installing it. many thanks 0 mechbas -5 8 Years Ago Possibly not, frequently presumed changes in the registry DON'T actually take effect immediately even if you think they do. Like the config.sys in your, and earlier versions of the OS, which is only read once per boot, some aspects of the registry are only read once also. When I do online updates, just to be on the safe side, I reboot the OS to update the regis
