When she sends a print job to the printer it prints an error page stating that there is a PCL XL error in the KERNEL subsystem, the error being https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/20767348/PCL-XL-Error-IllegalTag-message-received-when-trying-to-print.html "IllegalTag". We have a number of users printing to this machine but only the one person receiving this error message as such I am wondering if this is something on her local machine settings, but if so I am not sure what. Please advise how best to proceed to resolve this issue. 3.click on the general tab and click on ‘printing preferences. 4.click on the ‘advanced' tab and disable the ‘print optimizations. You can also add it as a Local Printer with "new port" TCP/IP thats my workaround. Share this:PrintFacebookEmailRedditLinkedInGoogleTwitterPocketPinterestTumblrLike this:Like Loading... The error can also be caused by an incompatibility between the Enhanced XL language and the software application that is associated with the file being printed, Adobe Photoshop Album in your case. The procedure in this HP support document for a different Laserjet model should help determining the source of the problem. In most cases the PCL5e drivers are recommended over PCL6 drivers. They work just as well and won't throw such errors. PCL 6 XL is less forgiving of slight glitches in the printer driver or software. PCL5e has been around longer and is considered more stable. share|improve this answer edited May 16 '09 at 11:16 answered May 15 '09 at 20:28 splattne 23.8k1686138 Thanks for the explanation.
