The thing that has changed is we set up new machines running pcl xl Win 7. We set up small factor computers (DC3217IYE). The printer has been added and now they get an error PCL XL error Subsystem: KERNEL Error: UnsupportedProtocol Operator: 0x0 Position: 0 Any ideas on what went wrong or what can be done to try and fix this? Apr 17, 2014 at 4:31 UTC Do you have a Postscript driver available for Windows 7 for it? If so, try that. 0 Pimiento OP lupeleal Apr 17, 2014 at 4:33 UTC I should have it. Why would the driver be an issue if the current driver was working before? 0 Mace OP LarryG. Apr 17, 2014 at 4:34 UTC It's not the same driver. Windows 7 uses different drivers than Windows XP. 0 Datil OP Gregory H Hall Apr 17, 2014 at 4:35 UTC DataGuys is an IT service provider. Sounds like a driver issue on the Windows 7 machines. Are you printing directly to the Kyocera or are you using a print server with a shared printer? I would also try the Universal driver for your model and see if that works. http://www.kyoceradocumentsolutions.eu/index/service/dlc.false.driver.FS3920DN._.EN.html Ge

We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 - all our workstations run Windows XP (32-bit) or Windows 7 (32-bit) . We recently changed the drivers. Now any documents sent to the printers result in a single page with this text on it: PCL XL error Subsystem: KERNEL Error: Unsupported Protocol Operator: 0x0 Position:0 The driver we are using is: Kyocera FS-2000D DX Regards, Leigh 0 Question by:LeighWardle Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 16 Active today Best Solution byDansDadUK The stream does indeed appear to be a Class/Revision 2.1 stream. Unless your printer is more than about 5 or 6 years old, I'd imagine that it would support C/R 2.1 (but I don't know this for certain). Most printers support C/R 2.0, or 2.1; a few (especially colour ones) support C/R 3.0; I don't think that there is any later level. You could perhaps check out what is being generated, as follows: (a) Print a small test document, but select the 'print to file' option in the Print dialogue; you will be asked to nominate the target file to which the print stream should be captured. (b) Examine the resultant .prn file, ideally with a hexadecimal
