What causes this and how to fix it? windows-xp drivers printing share|improve this question asked Aug 13 '13 at pcl xl error 7:51 Sašo 1,1991611 add a comment| 2 Answers 2 active oldest votes up vote 2 down vote accepted Related question: PCL XL Error The problem lies in the usage of PCL6 drivers. It is likely that Windows XP does not support the drivers perfectly and thus causes errors (Illegal Media Source means that it tries to fetch paper from a tray that doesn't exist). PCL5e has been around for longer and doesn't have such issues. Bottom line: use PCL5e over PCL6 if you encounter problems. share|improve this answer answered Aug 13 '13 at 7:51 Sašo 1,1991611 add a comment| up vote 0 down vote It could well be drivers, however most posts I've seen suggested you shut-down your printer and cold start it up (remove AC power) This worked for me. share|improve this answer answered Feb 11 '15 at 9:33 user269836 1 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. The printer was shared out - and the machines with the issue were printing that way. I deleted that and went to direct ip printing and no more errors!.. Thank you Mstewart30 for taking the time to answer. 0 Pimiento OP geekgurl2000 Jun 25, 2013 at 10:29 UTC 1st Post We're having the same issue - not all users affected. Most x64 Win 7 Pro. We've tried PCL 5, PCL 6, PostScript, and Windows native drivers to no avail. These are direct TCP/IP print ports on the users' machines. 0 Jalapeno OP PatrickHS Jun 26, 2013 at 2:50 UTC Look at the web interface, and see if the paper sizes and types match the driver settings.
